I had a conversation with Gamma regarding my use of imagery and how I feel the pictures I post are on topic. I found with my exchange with Gamma, that Gamma was quite reasonable and she also took the time to peruse my posting history to see that yes, there has been a pattern for at least the last couple of months of using pictures as responses. I had also, for a period of time used animated gifs, but chose to quit doing so when the request was made to stop. Gamma did make the suggestion that I add a narrative text explaining how my choice of images pertained to the thread. Personally, I choose not to add text to my images the majority of the time. I feel that my decision to use images consists of a valid way of expression, just as I feel my choice of acquired imagery is also a creative outlet. A bit post-modern perhaps, but a legitimate creative outlet none-the-less.
Also, I was the one who chose to contain the majority, if not all of my posts in the "Casual Banter" section, because I felt that if most of my posts are in threads which have either no subject or a minimum of subject matter, then I cannot be accused of posting off topic, or hijacking threads. I do differ in my opinion on "off topic" and the dynamics of the flow of conversation as opposed to "hijacking" or "derailing" threads... and that is my own personal perspective.
Though I disagree with the decision and the outcome of my interaction with Gamma, as I stated, I do believe she made a more than reasonable attempt to understand my points. Begrudgingly perhaps, she did warrant respect on my part.
I still choose to remain in the "basement". I feel that it allows me the freedom to post pretty much as I wish to, though I have had posts in "Train Wreck" pulled as well. In that particular case, I explained to the Moderator involved that contrary to their interpretation of my posts ridiculing another poster, I was actually making sarcastic references to the Mods themselves... Still, for the most part, I seem to have received fewer love letters bordered in Gold when I stay away from "polite society" and stay here in the darkness.
