Fantastic.... Oh and I didn't get the bit about the water either, I just enjoyed the show!!

Advertisement for the water....

But, gad, I'm way too much of a geek. I was thinking the led pipes they showed were way to slow responsive to get that kind of animation in reality and they should have been doing electroluminescent wire. For that matter, it was dark, and powering a laser show would have been much more efficient. Then all you have to do is get the variable mirror running.

*wants to lick Merc's brain now*

Watch out GreedyTop, get too close in the mood I'm in and I'll dress you in a full zentai suit, cover you in EL wire, and make you dance for the video camera....

That would be a fun photo shoot. <grin>

They need to put the bikes in peepshow booths. Make that the only way guys could keep viewing. Then when you see a fit man walking down the street you know he's a pervert. lol

Out of curiosity, what's behind the assumption that LED strands would be too slow? LEDs tend to have switching times under a microsecond… and this supposedly was an actual event last year that attracted 8000 spectators over its three-night run, so, Peon's joke aside, it would seem to have been accomplished, in reality, with LEDs. EL wire wouldn't be particularly suited for the initial gradual switching on, either, which was one of the more interesting effects.

Now, the technical thing that bothered me was the 2000 calories apparently burned in 64 seconds of biking. With the ten bikes present, that would be 13,075 watts of average power per rider. For comparison purposes, Usain Bolt averaged 2,165 watts during his world record 100 m sprint. So, that's more than six times his peak power output. And all without breaking a sweat – that's some performance enhancement Lance Armstrong would be envious of! Either that or they are holding out a lot of the show from the women here…

It was a WATER commercial????

And an effective one: sales of Contrex water apparently increased by 4.2% after the campaign. So this means sexy visuals do sell to women?

Hmm. *Idly ponders building a removable pink LED bowtie.*

There still might be a chance to attend this year's event. (For the exercise, naturally.)
