Sorry I had a moment of channeling a certain RW poster

The story is pretty cool though

I'll post the recipe if the FOIA request is successful.

I'd love to get a copy. I wonder if he's an all grain brewer or extract?

Regardless, I'll make a batch and give y'all a full report.

IME all grain is more work than its worth. I get great results from a partial mash (some grain and some malt extract). It lets me do without the big mashing pot which my stove cannot handle.

I made and drank some of the best beer in Tasmania. The water came from a local stream, into it went a can of Cascade Brewery Stout. The wonderful Brit with whom I made the brew and I "arm" stirred the mix - each sticking our bare arms into the brew to combine the ingredients. In went the yeast and over the top went a piece of cheesecloth - no air lock.

The thing sat in a greenhouse for about a week and a half and we checked in on it daily until fermentation stopped.

Primed and bottled it was great beer and some of the best beer I had ever tasted.

Pretty cool use of the Freedom of Information Act. Hope the gentleman is successful.

It would be interesting to see the recipe. I've considered joining a local home brew group on a couple of occasions. I think my girl might be interested as well; I should mention it to her!
