DarkSteven -> Obama's problem. (8/22/2012 3:21:45 PM)

His supporters are less likely to vote than Romney's.

DaNewAgeViking -> RE: Obama's problem. (8/22/2012 4:56:13 PM)

Romney/Ryan will take care of that, Stephen.

farglebargle -> RE: Obama's problem. (8/22/2012 5:00:46 PM)

Yeah, I think the whole, "Romney/Ryan have a history of trying to BAN BIRTH CONTROL" issue will ensure a good turnout....

Sanity -> RE: Obama's problem. (8/22/2012 5:29:21 PM)

Team Obama is going to need a lot more than a few baseless smears to pull this one out of the fire

Interesting problem. I would also add "Lesser of two evils" morons have difficulty as well: hard to determine who is a lesser evil.

Sanity -> RE: Obama's problem. (8/22/2012 5:57:05 PM)

Much of Obamas base hears, sees, and speaks absolutely no evil in regard to Obama

[image]http://ih2.redbubble.net/image.5060494.4492/flat,550x550,075,f.jpg[/image]

And that might be his biggest problem of all

People know better, and they dont like the perception of having the wool pulled over their eyes

Others (on the left) are waking up though...

EXAMPLE:

quote:

According to Pakistan's US Ambassador, Sherry Rehman, the drone war "radicalises foot soldiers, tribes and entire villages in our region". After the latest strike this week, Pakistan's foreign ministry said the attacks were "a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity and are in contravention of international law". Its Parliament has passed a resolution condemning the drone war. It is armed aggression by the Obama administration, pure and simple.If it was happening under the Bush presidency, the opposition would be vociferous and widespread.

Tsk tsk.... DS said it well here.

Are you arguing that Obamas base likes the drone wars?

You understand that we are discussing the base, and that polling indicates that Obamas base might not show up in the numbers Obama needs this November, right?

The drone wars was just an example anyway

One of many

I just hope Republicans keep up their medieval stance on reproduction and that pisses off women and swing voters and gets them to the polls.

Sanity -> RE: Obama's problem. (8/22/2012 6:36:03 PM)

The two sides' respective stances on reproductive rights hasnt changed any, the far left likes to try to smear and slime with the all too typical lies and baseless propaganda but thats nothing new either

The real war on women is taking place in the Middle East anyway, where Obama is aiding Islamic extremists' takeovers of relatively moderate states

cloudboy -> RE: Obama's problem. (8/22/2012 6:57:07 PM)

What do you think he could do to get them out?

My prediction, nonetheless, is that Romney will be annihilated in the next election. Then there might be four more years of gridlock.

LOL, Steve.  Great find.

Frankly, all the nonsense about the "war on women" could blow up horribly in the faces of the people pushing it the hardest, and those at highest risk of being affected by it.

Imagine, if you will, that Democrats make this their dominant theme in the fear and loathing campaign, defining the entire election on the most extreme characterization of the Republican social agenda.  Imagine further that the voters reject this definition, either by voting against the President, or voting with their butts, and landslide Romney into the White House by deciding it's about the economy.

Now imagine offering your congratulations to the dumbasses of the perpetually short-sighted left, who just handed the fundy right the opportunity to claim a mandate on abortion and gay marriage.

tazzygirl -> RE: Obama's problem. (8/22/2012 7:11:45 PM)

Imagine women dont need the DNC to be told there is a war against women. We have been seeing it all along.

So far, Republicans are doing a fine job of this all by themselves.

Obama is icing a cake that GWB already baked in that regard.

The extremists carried the day thanks to the GWB/OBL tag team effort.

But on this one point we might agree: the drone attacks are an abscess on an already less than stellar record in international politics.

Tough noogies. The Pakis, whom W sucked up to, have been harboring AQ terrorists for years and really aren't capable of policing their own country.

I'm actually not certain they aren't grateful to the US for fighting AQ but need to put on a front.

Sanity, I'm not sure why you say that drone killings in Pakistan didn't happen under W. They did. Obama simply expanded the drone program and made it more effective.

Sanity -> RE: Obama's problem. (8/22/2012 7:52:42 PM)

Again, Steven, I ask - from the point of view of Obamas base, do you think this is a plus?

Whatever happened to the line of reasoning that said we deserved to get hit on 911 for stealing oil, and that al-Qaeda is a Saudi Arabia organization etc

Are they just supposed to forget everything they learned about American aggression while Bush was president from the likes of Mike Moore et al

Edited to correct your assertion, I didnt "say" that Bush didnt use drones

That has officially unhappened?

Is Michael Moore an unperson now too?

Is it a thoughtcrime to even wonder...
