Heck of a thread to go on an anti-American rant

Silly girl. Americans are a proud lot--we don't fucking learn from anyone!

Hell, if we'd paid attention to the French, we'd have avoided that disaster in Vietnam.

France was an Empire. The UK was an Empire. China was an Empire covering half the globe. Rome was an Empire. Carthage was an Empire. Egypt was an Empire. Macedonia was an Empire. Germany was a medieval Empire. Tiny Holland was an Empire. Persia was an Empire. Mali was an Empire. And that's just off the top of my head.

But we're different. Because....we don't need no stinking knowledge! We're a country proud of ignorance, mocking intelligence as "elitist."

So here we are. For now.

We will just have to learn how to cede the world stage ungracefully. And unnecessarily, in my view--but not the way we're going.

As long as you think facing up to reality is anti-American, you're the subject of that rant, if the shoe fits.

Well, not really, Rich. My intent was not a thread about Neil Armstrong. I mean, what can you say about Neil Armstrong that doesn't come back to he was a heckova guy and much admired? Nor did I intend the thread to be about the space program. I was thinking about that one "moment" in time when we were transfixed by an awesome national accomplishment while at the same time there was rioting in our streets and Vietnam was sucking us deeper into the swamp. I wonder if that wasn't the last moment of glory for American Exceptionalism. So, not meaning to be anti-American and not meaning to be critical of America in anyway except trying to take a hard look at her from the history of Empire.

There were two attacks on the Towers. The first occurred in 1993. Explosives in a van.

Actually that was an exploratory attack in preparation of the big one. Its purpose was to test and review the various emergency programs.

You think 9/11 was the work of black ops?

Indeed. It was planned well before the towers were built.

Please, your evidence for this other than it was whispered into your ear by the Divine . . .

I recommend that you find your own evidence.
