After a debate with another poster here, I decided to toss up this poll to see how others do their laundry.

Please select your ideal choice, where you have no laundry limitations, such as money, that might force you to launder multiple items together. :)

Please make your choice according to your gender.

(M) = male
(F) = female

My apologies to those who identify outside the traditional gender choices of female or male.

Laundry genre = separate loads for underwear, tops, pants, socks, non-clothing items like dish clothes, bedding, etc.

Thank you for your participation!!! :)

Edited to add after reading Lucylastic's post:

The point of the selection is how the laundry is done. So...while some households may require multiple loads, due to sheer numbers alone, please don't include this as a consideration. The amount of laundry would be considered a laundry limitation, so just think of how you would wash things if load size wasn't a consideration either. :)

Lucylastic -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 2:26:24 AM)

Multiple loads with five people, multiple loads with four too, I do non clothing once a week
panties and "utility bras" go in with with everyone elses but my nice lingerie gets woolite and hand washed.

Adderfist -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 2:30:20 AM)

One load, Granted going commando, and having mostly similar color clothes...

JstAnotherSub -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 2:56:20 AM)

I need a 3 loads, colors, whites and towels option....

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 3:20:27 AM)

I do several loads a week with two people: one for work clothes, one for non-work, one for whites from the bedroom (which includes white clothes), one for towels, and one for linen from the kitchen.

Every day lingerie gets tossed in a bag and put in with the work clothes.

The work and non-work loads sometimes get separated into lights and darks if there are enough of them, but usually not for two people; I have an large washing machine.

KMsAngel -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 3:36:11 AM)

when i was on my own it was darks, lights and towels/sheets, once a week

with the 2 extra adults and grandbaby, it's lights, darks, towels/sheets and baby clothes generally has its own load due to extra stain cleaning. otherwise it's tossed in with adult lights

Rule -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 4:08:51 AM)

My mom went into the rest home where she will die, a couple of weeks ago. Since then my laundry has not been washed.

This is one of mine huge problems. I really need a submissive - but I cannot afford one.

nephandi -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 4:11:02 AM)

Greetings

Three loads, black, colored and undergarments. And I am a woman and while I am not rich I can afford the cost of keeping my cloths clean.

I wish you well

ShaharThorne -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 4:28:39 AM)

Female, usually pants and shirts (underwear washed with the shirts). If I do laundry on Sundays, its two loads. if more than 7 days between washings, then its 3 loads. Mom washes my towels when she does towels.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 4:29:52 AM)

I had to use the word 'genre'!!

Three adults live here. Bed linens, towels, clothing according to fiber/weight, so generally two loads for clothes.

LadyPact -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 4:56:15 AM)

Female and two loads, being whites and dark kept separate. I gave up on the frilly under garment load some time back.

Yes, I have a submissive in the house. Yes, he'd do that load separate if I told him to.

SlipSlidingAway -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 5:03:15 AM)

Husband & wife with two kids.  Both adults do laundry...

Female= separate loads for dark, white, towels/sheets, and each kid.

Male= one mega load that encompasses everything.

Either way, as long as the laundry gets done it's usually all good.  Once in a while the mega load will cause problems.  However, I have to admit, I am often amazed at the things that can be washed together without adverse effect!

Phoenixpower -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 5:05:27 AM)

female and separate loads according to laundry genre....I didn't use to be picky about that until about 3 years ago...there I made the mistake not to bother too much about it and just wash it at 40 or 60 degree depending on what it is...well...the result was that many of my lovely new items I bought...I was barely able to wear, some of them even never, cause they shrunk rappidly...

so I got a bit more fussy about what to wash with what....kitchen cloth go seperate anyway with 95 degree....and whilst personally I am not too keen to strip off my sofas and wash them...my cats make me do that as they have the weirdest habbits of puking especially on those [8|]

so yep...multiple fits my needs....or well...our needs, considering my cats are causing some of it [>:]

GreedyTop -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 5:40:20 AM)

1 load. female. all colours. I try to make it a point to not buy clothing that has colour leakage issues (they're also usually the ones that don't require ironing, etc)

Lucylastic -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 5:43:40 AM)

heh my iron has an identity crisis, it thinks its an ornament.
I HATE ironing with a passion. So I RARELY buy anything that needs ironing, just on principle

NuevaVida -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 6:59:48 AM)

Multiple loads: Darks, lights, delicates, sheets, towels, and then a periodic bundle of clothes to the dry cleaners. I'm also very picky about what goes in the dryer and what is hung to dry. Also, depending on how many times a week I've gone to Zumba, sometimes there's an entire load just for my Zumba clothes, which are always hang dried.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 7:02:54 AM)

I have three dresses that need ironing. No..four dresses. Anyone? Bueller?

I don't even own an iron... I am allowed to use one at work (if there is a vacant room..but by the time I get to work.. fuck it.)

OsideGirl -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 7:48:59 AM)

I chose the closest. Mine is:

1) colored (everything gets washed in cold)
2) Whites
3) Towels
4) Sheets

LaTigresse -> RE: Laundry (8/29/2012 8:07:10 AM)

Mine is a cross between OsideGirl and NuevaVida.

Whites get seperate and HOT water with bleach. Except bras which get hand washed most of the time.

Jeans and other similar stuff cold and some must not hit the dryer. I hate putting on jeans and feeling like I gained 10 pounds in a day.

Other coloured clothing, warm or cold water (depending on what and dirt level...) and dryer. Unless there is something I want to hang dry.

Towels get hot water and the dryer.

All bedding gets hot water and the dryer. I would prefer to hang them outside but I haven't the place for it.

Most laundry gets done on the weekend unless there is a need during the week.

Two adults, three dogs, a cat, two horses, and one fish. And yes, each and every one of them creates dirty laundry at some point.
