ORIGINAL: Charles6682 I would consider voting for Mitt Romney if he would return to his "moderate" image. Now that the RNC is almost over with, perhaps Romney needs the etch and sketch and restart his campaign.Romney was a moderate Republican when he was Governor of Mass.Clearly Mass is a liberal state so Romney had no choice but to move towards the middle. Now with the RNC almost over,Romney has already won the Republican nomination for President. He no longer needs to pander to the very far right of the Republican party because the Primarys are now over with. I voted for Barack Obama back in 2008.I watched the debates bewteen McCain and Obama and in the end felt Obama was better suited for the job.I have alot of respect for McCain for his years of service to this country and I use to respect the fact that he didn't always bow down to the most extreme voices in his party. That all changed when McCain was trying to go further to the "right" in hopes of getting more Neo-Conservatives to vote. That policy failed and Obama won by a huge margin.McCain would have been better to stay in the "middle of the road" and maybe,I could have seen voting for him. I hope Mitt Romney doesn't make the same mistake that John McCain did.Mitt Romney needs to go back towards the "center of the aisle" or his will risk losing alot of Independent and Moderate voters, whom really do have the final say as these votes usually tilt the elections in either direction.Mitt Romney should embrace alot of his accomplishment he had as Mass Governor. He did get a Universal Healthcare bill signed so most people in Mass could have healthcare. Now that the RNC is over,Romney shoould embrace more of his moderate positions he took on as Governor. The red states are going to vote for Romeny anyways,so he already has won those states. As long as an "R" is next to your name, those states are already a given.Romney should focus on winning swing states with his moderate stances and not try to constantly appeal to those on the far right. I know Mitt Romney is a known flip flopper, who goes which way the wind blows. But now is the time for Romney to prove he can stand on something. He can stand on his own record as Mass Governor, which actually was a good record.Romney did win as a Republican that is heavily Democrat.Romney knows what it means to be bipartisan.he needs to embrace that Romney again. McCain never went right, that was his problem, everyone knew he was a RINO moderate, and couldn't win over conservatives. Romney would lose just like McCain if he tries to go back to the middle... he knows it, the GOP knows it, and I suspect you know it too, but want Romney to lose to Obama. No, at the risk of losing YOUR single vote, I'm pretty sure Mitt is smart enough to know he needs to continue steering right. A moderate won't gain the support of the GOP. Moderates, and those willing to give in to the left are the reason we're in the mess we're in, and the reason the Tea Party candidates are winning elections.
