This made me LOL, big time. :D

I came back to say that I brought Machiavelli up with some of the philosophers I look up to. Apparently, Machiavelli's scapegoating is more of a "sacrifice the one for the good of the ruler" (earlier, I said "whole"). They said that I could make the case (as I was trying desperately to do, I hate being wrong) that the good of the ruler becomes the good for the people, in a roundabout way, but to me it seems a great stretch to even consider that to be Utilitarianism. I will have to reexamine The Prince in order to get whether or not he believes that the good of the people is the end to aim for, but for now I'm saying my previous position (i.e. Machiavelli was a complete Utilitarian) was probably not correct.

You're correction is valid. Machiavelli was not a utilitarian, but he was just as bad. [:D]

I disagree with your statement. An individual need not be a proponent or practitioner of BDSM to illustrate similar behaviors in their makeup and relationships. What makes the subculture markedly distinct is the expression of philosophies that form the framework of a collective belief whose tenets are readily debated, but at its core there is a prevailing commonality which most find agreeable. Whereas a servile individual or one determined to guide is often influenced by a different entity. What is commonplace in both scenarios is the impact these influences have had upon their respective audiences.

I cannot concur with your sentiments. It debases the human form to a state that is readily micromanaged by its loins. The theory is further complicated through the suggestion of social problems arising due to the values stated without giving mention to the prevailing perils that are a result of deviant behavior that is manifested through sexual acts.

Our complexities do not divorce us from the realities of decision-making and the consequences we bear when the wrong selection is made. One can have murderous thoughts when the emotions are horribly agitated but elect not to act due to the prison term that is sure to follow. There are some that may choose to sexualize these urges through their relations, but the act would never sate the individual with a hunger to slay. Foisting our negative traits into the sexual realm will not contain them if we're determined to let them loose. It is merely a nondescript containing bin that will be unleashed when the fail-safe is dismantled or falls short of its intended purpose.
