Honestly though, I think Jennifer Connelly in Labyrinth made the deeper impact in terms of exuding sheer sexual tension, sexy costume or no sexy costume. To be fair, I think Mia Sara was only like 14 at the time.

But I think the whole fashion thing probably goes back to Theda Bara in her Cleopatra costume for me - not that I'm old enough to remember that, but I must have run across a pic somewhere, because that image is stuck in my head, and is the archetype for a number of subsequent images, including the Princess Leia slave costume.

Interesting biopic: http://www.brandypurdy.com/pb/wp_81980ebc/wp_81980ebc.html

She was tyepcast as the vamp, and when she finally got a role as an innocent, audiences literally rioted, lol.

Xavier Hollander, Mae West, Joan Collins, Diana Dors, Cleopatra, Bette Davis, Elvira
these days, Dita Von teese and Bianca Beauchamp

When I was a young girl in the seventies, Northern Ireland and the IRA were constantly in the news as "the Troubles" were at a peak. Night after night seeing young, long haired, Irish men, with dark hair, freckles and blue eyes had quite the effect on me. I also went to a Catholic school were most of the pupils were descended from people from Donegal in Ireland.

It wasn't until I went out with a young man from Belfast last year that I suddenly put two and two together.

I knew from the earliest age that I was intrigued by anyone in a movie being tied up, whipped, spanked, captured, prison movies, etc. Even cartoons turned me on (can you imagine a little girl liking that Bugs Bunny tied someone up and put them in boiling water?)

I found some erotic novels, pretty graphic, and they were all about control, rape, humiliation, etc. when I was a teen and I put two and two together to those earlier thoughts and realized this was what turned me on.

When I started dating, I always went for the boys who were a bit kinky or, I would ask them to be. :)

Actually, it was the other way around.
Mia was an adult when she made Legand
and Jennifer was a minor when she made
Labyrinth.

Theda was one of the first Goth girls.
Vamp coming from vampire.
Only about three of her movies are
known to be intact. Her Cleopatra
is considered a lost film. The only
known footage of it is a twenty
second fragment. The photo of
her in costume as Cleopatra is a
iconic image. That it is in so many
peoples head is a testament to
the power that some images and
the ideas attached to them have
on the human psyche.

I saw and pinned a beautiful photo of
Diana Dors the other day on Pinterest.

I love her. She was so beautiful and
sexy. America had MM, France had BB,
Britain had DD.

Yes she was quite something, amazing raw sexuality, but her private life was a mess, , sad but happened way to often in the 50s and 60s, like Marilyn, and BB too

Connolly was 16, Sara was 14, but the film was held up in post production for a couple years or something, according to wikipedia at least, although the dates don't jibe necessarily.

Forgot about Elvira, I miss all that good old drive-in schlock, it was always good for some hot chick getting abducted.

Speaking of which, if there was one sequence I could watch repeatedly, it would be Salma Hayek's dance scene Dusk Till Dawn.

I used to get all hot and bothered when Captain Kirk got off with the sexy alien lady. My dad would roll his eyes and tut.

iowaswitcher -> RE: your sexual influence? (9/8/2012 2:35:23 PM)

there have been a couple of movies where i have had a i want that moment.

one was a guy in a library was following around a hot girl and she left notes where he was supposed to move an article of clothing. so i have always enjoyed more public sex, probably not like the library scene where there is an immense chance of getting caught but something like that. i am not sure if this is a movie or an episode but would be nice to know one day.

i think another one could be like mrs doubtfire. i am a crossdresser and i don't dress like her i do wear womens clothes.

i am sure i have others but i can't think of them right now

When I was about 10, my parents went took me to a late night drive-in movie. I was supposed to be asleep in the back, but I only pretended and watched the movie. I wish I knew what movie it was.

There was a mining town- no women- and this guy rode in leading another horse that had a woman with her hands tied behind her back on it. He then auctioned her off to the highest bidder. The winner- an old, skraggly miner type- took her to his cabin. He took his knife and sliced right through her bodice and corset and her naked breasts bounced out.

That's all I remember, but it totally affected me on a level I had never felt before. I wish I could find out what that movie was! It was about 1973-4.

Then, as a pre-teen, I found my Dad's copy of the Happy Hooker, and of course, his Robert Heinlein collection (my parents were poly, but in the closet to their kids).

On TV, I was obsessed with Catwoman (Julie Newmar) and Morticia. I thought they were the sexiest women on TV. Ginger was alright, but too high maintenance for me. lol.

So, I guess all those influences made me the bisexual, submissive, humiliation-loving, exhibitionist, poly slut that I am today! TaDa!!!

You know before there was porn, there were crime and men's magazines, Men's Adventure, etc., in which bondage figured highly in the cover art, I had kinda forgotten all about it.

I think my fascination dates back even earlier though, since my earliest memories of kinky fantasies had a distinctly medieval tone - the Iron Maiden is an image that still stirs, uh... things up.

So, weirdly enough, it was probably the Encyclopedia Britannica that hooked me.

Titaniya -> RE: your sexual influence? (9/10/2012 7:48:36 PM)

I'm not sure about "I want that" moments, but I know that the comic Sandman sprouted at least one particular fantasy. In retrospect, I suspect that I had a crush on Jasmine from Aladdin - I can recall really liking her (because of the tiger) but wanting his adventures.

Whether it's real life or in movies I have always been attracted to men who seem put together, in control, intelligent and charming. Think powerful men in suits. I honestly couldn't pinpoint when I started fantasizing about being with a man who is sexually Dominant - at a guess I think around the age of 10.

littlewonder -> RE: your sexual influence? (9/10/2012 7:59:07 PM)

oh yeah....men in suits. I never had that fantasy until my husband joined the navy. After that I was done for. Now suits of authority just make me melt. [:)]

Back in the day before sites and profiles let alone email and chat, when there was just snail mail and real time was a computer term, we had none of these words and expressions. When meeting people, submission was inspired and usually by a man who resembled those you post of now.

That submission in my time, was their sexual submission, or...there wasn't any at all.

Seems it was for almost everybody here yet the net doesn't allow that...it's about something else now. The man in the computer needs be all of those things through the screen and...in profile.

The net is nothing like real time and these posts strike at the heart of the difference.
