Delilya -> What is rinsing? (9/4/2012 1:02:38 PM)

This question is due to a post in introductions. One of the things she was here to do was "rinsing". I've "rinsed" my sub off with a hose before, is that the same thing? I asked in the post, but they so rarely come back. Didn't find anything on google. Maybe it's her own thing?

LadyHibiscus -> RE: What is rinsing? (9/4/2012 1:15:39 PM)

Perhaps she runs their wallets under the faucet? A new one for me.

From what I've heard, it's the type of findomme that wants money without spending any time on the sub at all.

So she'll have a site and a wish list and a pay button, and accept tribute there without promising or offering anything at all in return. All the sub gets out of the equation is the privilege of knowing she'll enjoy the money...

Enchanting. So it's my PEOPLE SHOULD SEND ME STUFF! Wonder if it works? It's school supply charity time...

That is pretty much what rinsing is, although more to the point, it's when a 'faux-domme' takes everything she can from a guy and then, bam- nothing. Not an email, not an im, not even a snarky little 'thanks, bitch'. Or.. for those who lack reading comprehension- 'domme' A promises sub a a five minute cam session- details being arranged over im. Sub sends X amount of money. 'A' says that's not enough, send more. Keeps going until she figures a's catching on, then- poof.
gone.

Good luck with that.. I tried posting a wishlist with school supplies to be donated for kids in my district nd the ones surrounding, and so did another domme i'm friends with. :/ damn subs kept buying things off of the regular wishlists but wouldn't go near the 'donate to a schoolkid' lists. I think she had one guy send, like.. a box of crayons. and that was it.

Delilya -> RE: What is rinsing? (9/4/2012 2:14:36 PM)

Ah, ok. Thank you very much for the information.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: What is rinsing? (9/4/2012 2:22:30 PM)

Cheap bastards. Kids need the school supplies, and giving to those charities makes me happy. I'm an artist, they can think of me colouring if it helps.

I know the feeling.
I was tempted to lie and say it was all for me but it'd look a little odd that i'd want crayons and safety scissors when i'd just finished bragging about my new copics set.. e.e;

Having seen the documentary, I can tell you that this is inaccurate to say the least.

The three women profiled in SL&RG weren't using domination to get what they wanted. Two of them went on dates with the men who padded their wallets. The other would Skype with her admirers and communicate with them via twitter.

Findom and rinsing aren't the same. One can utilize elements of both but, they're not the same.

Privilaged- what documentary?
I'm not saying rinsing and financial domination are the same at all- in fact, in the above post I'm using the term 'domme' quite loosely to note which 'role' in the example is doing what.

Do you REALLY think that I'm saying a findom and a rinser are the same thing, here?

Edit: ... Actually, now I wonder. Was the documentary where you picked up your definition?

RedMagic1 -> RE: What is rinsing? (9/4/2012 4:19:42 PM)

The term predates the recent explosion of findom. There's a relevant entry on Urban Dictionary from 2005, and it's been used in poker as well. The Channel 4 documentary I linked (and Privileged saw; I haven't seen it) may have elevated awareness of the word among the general populace. Also, perhaps the findomme subculture has produced a new subdefinition. If PrincessJessieJ has examples at, say, findoms.com, I'd be interested. This is a word whose definition appears to be developing.

It seemed like you were equating rinsing with some form of domination. I don't believe the two are connected.

Tantriqu -> RE: What is rinsing? (9/6/2012 10:11:16 PM)

Interesting!
I've heard it used rarely as a euphemism for sex [both oral and vanilla intercourse] where the woman comes but the man doesn't, from the vanilla sense where Canadians would say, 'He got totally hosed, eh?'.
Alas, urbandictionary is blocked where I am right now so can't double-check.
