Restyles -> What are they afraid of? (9/4/2012 5:37:43 PM)

"Media availability for Obama officials and acolytes has been shut up as tight as a clam for conservative media here at the Democratic National Convention. According to sources at Talk Radio News Service, placing a stringer outside the designated TV area to ask high-level Democrats to stop by radio row has been banned by the DNC – in fact, as one source told me, “You need permission from Obama for America.”"

I guess theyve given up reaching the independents...and know they cant actually answer anything but softballs.

It's a convention sweetie. It will be on TV. No worries.

slvemike4u -> RE: What are they afraid of? (9/4/2012 5:43:39 PM)

When will Mitt sit for his next interview ?

Musicmystery -> RE: What are they afraid of? (9/4/2012 5:44:43 PM)

He's already an empty suit. He doesn't need an empty chair.

I'm not sure.  It used to be a customary courtesy for the opposing side to go a little quiet during the other convention, but I imagine Mitt will still wait until after the President gets his moment.  They'll both be doing plenty of interviews.

Now what I'd like to see would be a repeat or reboot of the style used in the Faith and Values debate that mega-church put on for the '08 election.  Give them both exactly the same questions, in a setting where they are unable to know each others answer.  The locked room thing was ridiculous last time, so maybe do the interviews simultaneously, in different locations

It is also interesting that speeches by blacks and other ethnic minorities are actually being broadcast by msnbc. That certainly wasn't the case at the RNC...What a bunch of hypocrits,,

Probably not too long after the right wing softballers get back from trying to take down big game at the Democratic Convention.

BTW - In honor of the Original topic. I heard the republicans were every bit as selective with interview access. And frankly, the way politics is polarized. Making it sound anymore mysterious than that is the earmark of a spoonfed understanding of the process.

servantforuse -> RE: What are they afraid of? (9/4/2012 8:16:17 PM)

You heard ? FOX and the other networks showed every speech at the RNC.. msnbc did not.

FNC did not cover every speech. Only CSPAN did that.

Tonight I flipped back and forth and MSNBC covered most speeches while FNC mostly had Hannity. Did FNC show even 1 second of Tammy Duckworth's speech?

servantforuse -> RE: What are they afraid of? (9/4/2012 8:30:57 PM)

Tammy Duckworth. A real star. Did anyone catch Milwaukee's own, Gwen Moore ? She forgot to mention that her son was convicted of slashing tires of vans that were to take elderly voters to the polls a couple of years ago.

RNC: Every speech, though some split screen.
Duckworth: The whole thing.

I'm sorry. Did I say  "I heard wspeeches weren't televised"? Wait let me go check...
NOPE I said the  conservatives were tight with regard to "interview access". Which is really what this thread is about.
Now do you have any questions or comments about what I ACTUALLY said?

Thank you for clarifying. Too bad what you "heard" was wrong about that too. They gave free access to the MSM.

Well if you were a decent, patriotic American running for office would you give an interview to the likes of Fox? I wouldn't allow them in the building.

I figured out what they are afraid of. Questions about their platform.....removing all references to G-d and abandoning support for Jersualem as the capitol of Israel.

And Kucinich and Richardson are running away as fast as they can "The Platform doesnt mean that much". LMAO After their weekend of not being able to get the "are you better off than 4 years ago" responses consistent this is obviously a party in disarray.

I definitely heard some references to God last night. Which is something that always bothers me a bit, because this country was built on the seperation of church and state as part of it's founding philosophy, and having politicians try to force their religion down my throat makes me uncomfortable.

Of course we're better off than we were 4 years ago. I don't even understand why the GOP is working this angle.

When Obama took office, we were losing 600k jobs a month, the financial sector and auto industry were on the verge of collapse, we were on the edge of another Great Depression, we were stuck in the middle of two wars we couldn't afford, something like 50 million people lacked health care, and the stock market was in the shitter.

Less than 4 years later, we're gaining 150k jobs a month (even after massive cuts to the government workforce), the financial sector and auto industry are doing well, the economy is stable and recovering, we're out of one war and about to be done with the other, more and more people have access to health care, and the stock market's at twice the level it was.

No, we're not all the way recovered yet, and a whole lot of people are still worse off than they were 5 or 6 years ago, but we're still, as a nation, better off than we were in 2009.
