Nigerian scam -- Typically, a victim is told that a Nigerian official must get money out of the country before it is seized and offers to pay the victim a percentage for receiving the money. But, first, there are always "legal fees" or "government bribes" to be paid, by the victim of course. Sometimes this scam goes so far as to lure victims overseas to finish transferring the money, and they are bilked further there. This scam bilks consumers of more than $100 million a year, the Postal Service also says. The FBI estimates that the median loss -- half above and half below -- from the Nigerian scam is $5,000.

This scheme also has a timely version, in which a scam artist poses as an American soldier who is trying to transfer money out of Iraq and will pay the victim to help with the deal.

Greetings Jay,

Should I be worried this is a scam? I am pretty much already. I've asked to meet them in person, waiting on a reply.

I won't address the legitimacy of the situation since others have given their feedback. I will suggest that you exercise a measure of discernment when interacting with persons who have guardians or some male influence that has significant prominence in their lives. I believe we each benefit from having trusted individuals that serve as a sounding board of sorts or may offer some degree of mentoring. However, in most instances that is rarely the case. The other party usually has a vested interest in the one he's advising and often steers them in the opposite direction.

It is my consensus that we must be capable of rational decision-making and willing to hold ourselves accountable for the activities that follow. Vetting only becomes cumbersome when negative experiences and emotional/mental instability are the underlying influences for the choices rendered.

Best of luck.

Regards,

Op

This has "red flags " everywhere on it!!!!

I am able to sense things through people writings, I do
care if anyone may think I am loose in the brain but it has kept me safe
for years!

It is something when a man is willing to take only $700 dollats for all of the "time he
too groom her! He is dangerous and do not, I know you will not but do not go near this couple!

I have always told many people when I see danger signs "no limit what so ever, will take any type of punishment,
with no safe word at all!

They are new people to CM, I warn them be so careful always tell someone where your going!

So let this one go and fast, the danger signs are so wide open I can feel it!

You know you own "gut feeling" stick too it !

You will find that special person, there are many good people here, but if it does not feel right
it is not right

Mons (good luck)

This site is amusing to keep a presence on, because there's one unusually large number of scammers around here.

Knowing that most are aware that accounts in certain countries in Africa are bound to be scams.
They have started to make profiles for just about any country, I know for certain that claiming to be from any Scandinavian country is popular.
Most profiles for my country are fake, they do not know a word in Swedish. Same go for some profiles in neighboring countries.
Not knowing the language of the country you claim to live in is a dead giveaway if you ask me! :D

AND if they do, sometimes you are then in physical danger!  AND if not then and there, you might be followed home by someone else, giving them your address.    IDENTITY THEFT can proceed from there.

KatyLied -> RE: Scam? (9/9/2012 7:41:06 AM)

If you are considering someone who needs a guardian or protector, you should consider that if they are too stupid or immature to make their own decisions perhaps they should remain at home.
