The Arizona delegation to the Democratic Convention selected to announce their votes for Barack Obama - BARRY GOLDWATER'S GRANDDAUGHTER!!!! Ironic - as she said, if her grandfather, the Republican Party's Presidential candidate in 1964, were alive today in 2012, he wouldn't recognize the GOP, because he believed in liberty and personal freedom - and today's GOP does not.

Ceci endorsed him in 08 as well. Glad she's heading up the delegation. Her grandfather was a great republican. Back when it meant something to be republican. I have often wished I lived in those days.

The parties do this flip flop over history. In the 1920s Woodrow Wilson brought in some strange policies - one that no blacks could serve in federal government because as a people they could never be trusted. His party brought back from ashes the Ku Klux Klan - yes he was a Democrat. DO NOT MAKE PARALLELS between that party and the one existing today. I was amazed that in the last election the whole "Joe the Plumber" common man BS the Republicans were trying to sell in a great departure from when they were the one stop shopping party for big business a mere 8 years previous. (Footnote: Facts on Woodrow Wilson, the settling of America, even the cultural myth of Helen Keller are found in the Book LIES MY TEACHER TOLD ME by Lowell - an amazing book about little told aspects of American history that we completely fail to teach in school. This is NOT a liberal or conservative book, it looks at the money/business end of making textbooks for public schools. )
