Some kinks seem equally popular (or unpopular) across the genders - I've seen both men and women express interests in leashes, flogging, wax play, needles, cages and gags, to mention just a few off the top of my head.

Other kinks, however, seem to be really skewed towards one gender. I've never personally encountered a woman who was interested in scat (at least on the receiving end). I've only come across one woman who was into worshiping someone's feet. I've never met a woman who expressed an interest in the giant(ess) fetish. It tends to be males who want to be kept in chastity or who get some kind of pleasure from believing themselves to be sexually inadequate and unable to please a partner.

Now I know, before everyone reminds me, that there are some women out there wearing chastity belts and worshiping their partner's feet. And I'm not in any way belittling anyone's choice of kink - I'm a big believer in people finding happiness and fulfillment in whatever way they can. What I really want to know is, why? Is there something in our genetic make up or cultural environment that makes certain kinks more appealing to one gender?

I notice that all the kinks I've listed tend to be on the submissive end of the spectrum, but obviously being submissive isn't a predominantly male thing. I'd be happy to discuss any examples of top/dominant type kinks that sway towards one gender or the other.

I'd also be interested to hear if anyone can think of any predominantly female kinks - I can't think of any right now.

The kink I can think of right off hand that has a vast majority of females and just a few males is "littles".

Hmm, every one I think of and think "oh that's a female trait" I realize there are males that are into it as well. Most of my female slaves have been into foot worship as well as my male slaves. Hmm. (Forced) crossdressing comes to mind as a predominantly male sub thing. I've never come across a female sub wanting to be forced into crossdressing. It also seems rarer for women to want to be bimbofied than men.

ETA: Female kinks, Daddy-daughter dynamics seem a lot more popular than Mommy-son dynamics I guess?

Good point! I don't think I've come across more than one or two male littles.

TNDommeK- that's the same thing I was thinking. I kept thinking 'well lots of women like...' and then realizing I knew lots of men into it as well. But it's interesting to know that foot worship isn't gender specific in your experience. I was thinking of all the profiles on the other side of males focusing on foot worship, but to be fair there are more male profiles in general, and the male ones are more commonly very sexually focused.

I know lots of women, and very very few of them are fixated on activities the way that male fetishists are. Even the women in my foot group who ARE into feet (as opposed to me, who is along for the social aspect) don't REQUIRE foot worship to be part of their every sexual encounter. The men who are actual fetishists actually get sexually excited at the sight of pretty feet.

Men are weird. That's all I'm saying about that right now. I am feeling extra cunty today, and I don't want to start ranting about people that have no affect on my life whatsoever just for the sake of letting off some steam.

There's lots of material written about fetishes, in the definition of "object necessary for sexual stimulation", and much of it is just fascinating and boggling to me. The balloons fetish. Why do some people like rubbing the balloons, while others pop them? WHY BALLOONS AT ALL?

I generalize it as Kink = activity, Fetish = object (and said object can be a body part, or a whole person). That does put a bit of a spin on things, if you see women being into a kinky ACTIVITY, while men are into passive OBJECTS, but that's just a fluffy observation.

Another that's heavily skewed is trampling. I've never heard of a man trampling a woman. And I wouldn't say it's just a male sub kink, since I know a few female doms who really enjoy it and seek out men to do it to.

I see far, far, far more female cats/kittens, although I do know a male sub who is the epitome of all that is feline. Male subs who identify as a pet/animal tend to more often identify as ponies or puppies from what I've observed, but I admittedly haven't seen many of either. On the d-side of the spectrum, it's somewhat common to see men identifying as dragons, bears, or wolves, but I can't think of any female d-types who identify as animals off the top of my head.

Forced feminization is another heavily skewed one--I've never heard of anybody being into forced masculanization. I know there was just a thread about this and I don't want to stir up that debate here, just pointing it out as a skewed kink.

I've always assumed that true fetishes develop during puberty. A time when young males sport erections a great deal of the time and spend even more time trying to deal with them. So things like shoes, or women's panties get Pavlovian responses when every erection is accompanied by this.

Women, simply because you can't see when they are aroused, don't have to deal with it right that second. Thus they don't say "shoes, that's what works to get me off", and do it with a shoe every single time until the brain links shoes and sex together.

Hm, what about Financial Domination as a kink? Specifically that there are supposedly more women who get off on "cold hard cash" and"financially ruining someone" than men, and not to do with the ProDom/me situation or the "who provides for who" question in a relationship.

The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are women who want to be impregnated by a specific race, and men who want to be financially dominated. The former for the obvious reason, and the later I suspect just because of the numbers. Also cuckolds. I have not honestly come accross any women with a fetish for watching her man fuck another or several women, although I'm sure they are out there. I've come accross several cuckold couples with a male cuck both online and in person. While I don't browse the male profiles, I am confident there are far fewer switch/sub men looking to be kindapped and taken against thier will with no limits than there are female sub /switches. In my experience on the interwebs, there's been far more male than female subs into this fantasy/kink. It could possibly be something about me that attracts these sorts of guys, or even that they're really all the same guy, as I have often suspected. I've not actually met anyone with this kink revealed to me IRL though.

I've heard of a lot of malesubs who want to do this....but they want to do it all dressed up some kind of weird get up and a Domme following them all around whipping them to move faster, clean a spot that was missed, etc....and then expect to be fucked after.
