As for my remarks about Jones and his film, I stand by every word. Anyone who read my OP would see my post was about him and the film rather than the attack itself.

Have you seen the film?

Yes I watched a clip ...

If this is true, then the correct answer is "No", not "Yes". [8D]

Firm

LOL, there is only a clip online Firm..... I didnt go to the cinema I admit. Anyhow enough people on here are summising about all Muslims without having met everyone of them. [8D]

Here's the latest on the source and history of the movie. It premiered in Hollywood back in June. No mention of Pastor Douchebag.

* Chairman of Joint Chiefs asks pastor to not support film

* Pastor agrees to 're-evaluate' showing movie

By Phil Stewart

WASHINGTON, Sept 12 (Reuters) - General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, called a Florida pastor on Wednesday and asked him to withdraw his support for a film whose portrayal of the Prophet Mohammad has been linked to violent protests - including one that ended with the death of America's envoy to Libya.

"In the brief call, Gen. Dempsey expressed his concerns over the nature of the film, the tensions it will inflame and the violence it will cause," Dempsey's spokesman, Colonel Dave Lapan, told Reuters.

U.S. military officials are concerned that the film could inflame tensions in Afghanistan, where 74,000 U.S. troops are fighting. The Taliban called on Afghans on Wednesday to prepare for a fight against Americans and urged insurgents to "take revenge" on U.S. soldiers over the film.

"He told me he had seen the film and that the film was pornographic ... and very, very bad. He asked me not to support it," Pastor Terry Jones told Reuters.

Jones agreed to "re-evaluate" his plans to show the film. "If the film is indeed pornographic, then, of course, as a Christian pastor I cannot support that type of film and could not show it," he said.

Dempsey's office declined comment on Jones' characterization of the call.

A U.S. official, briefing reporters later, described Jones as "non-committal" during the call.

Jones, who heads a tiny church in central Florida called the Dove World Outreach Center, has promoted Koran-burning events that have provoked outrage across the Muslim world and warnings from the Obama administration that such actions only help terrorist groups like al Qaeda. Jones' plans to burn the Koran triggered deadly riots in Afghanistan in 2010.

Jones said he received a 13-minute trailer of the movie, "Innocence of Muslims," via email two weeks ago and planned to show it on his website on Tuesday as part of a so-called International Judge Muhammad Day marking the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Due to technical difficulties, Jones said, he wasn't able to show the trailer as planned. But he said the event, streamed live on the website StandUpAmerica.org included a burning of the Koran and an effigy of Mohammad.

Addressing the attacks on U.S. diplomats in Libya and Egypt, Jones denied that the film or his group's activities had contributed to the violence.

"The outbreak of violence and deaths is not because of the film, it is not because of the activities that we have done and that we will continue to do."

So definitely not a Pastor Douchebag production, then.

Thanks, Lucy. (HuffnPoo is so likely to lock up my computer with all their crap, I rarely hit that one from work or home, much less on the "days of the asshole" at work.

Lucylastic -> RE: Well done Pastor Jones. (9/12/2012 7:54:11 PM)

NObody said it was a terry jones production, only that he was promoting it

Since rich has lowered the bar by collectively blaming all Libyans for the attack......shouldn`t we now throw all fundie-conservative-bigots together to blame for this film?

Lucylastic -> RE: Well done Pastor Jones. (9/12/2012 8:06:18 PM)

Nah theres enough ignorance running around on this thread and the other one to last us a LIFETIME:)

Hell yeah.

Jones got it by email. The apparently incendiary dialogue was dubbed in by different actors. The whole production is still a mess of unanswered questions.

Look at the thread title. That's the only thing that is clear yet, and it ain't his movie.

The movie came out in June, but apparently was re-dubbed into Arabic just in time to put the Religion of Peace on display in time for the anniversary.

And quite a display it was.

In that respect, I think that what we have now is a race to see who can lower the bar as far as it'll go. If all Libyans are the enemy so all Americans will be their enemies, in turn. If all Muslims are the enemy, then all Christians will be the enemies of those Muslims. If all those in the Middle East are the enemy . . . .

. . . You know how it goes on.

We live in stupid, stupid times.

dcnovice -> RE: Well done Pastor Jones. (9/12/2012 8:27:39 PM)

FR

Let's agree for argument's sake that the film is indeed deeply offensive to some, perhaps even most, Muslims. And I'm willing to suppose that Pastor Jones is as big a schmuck as he sounds like. Those are awful realities of a broken world, and I regret them, as I do anything or anyone that stirs hatred.

Not for a minute, though, would I consider the film or Pastor Jones's affronts to Islam as excuses for the violence that erupted in Egypt and Libya. I felt the same way about the riots that greeted the publication of those Danish cartoons that satirized Islam and the fatwa against Salman Rushdie.

Put all those together, and a disturbing pattern begins to appear, at least to me. That raises a question I'll probably be pilloried for asking: Is there something endemic to Islam that drives its most zealous followers to rage-filled riots and violence and even death? And if so, how can the rest of us respond without losing our own rights to religion and expression?

It's an agonizing irony that the rioters in Egypt and Libya probably had no inkling of how their actions defamed Islam and turned people's stomachs far more than any movie or cartoon ever could.

PeonForHer -> RE: Well done Pastor Jones. (9/12/2012 8:29:11 PM)

If I wanted to promote a religion of peace, I'd call it, perhaps, 'The Dove Outreach Centre' - doves being the symbol of peace, and all.

Well, maybe not exactly that name - because Terry Jones has already coined that for his own church.

I`ve heard reports that the attackers used the protest as a cover and weren`t part of it.

But some here want to blame Islam or the Libyan government or the president.......even before the bodies are cold....

Well played........Mitt.[8|] .......and rich.....[8|]

Ah... So the world stops for 2-4 dozen jihadists who have hit and run and are now nowhere to be found. Yeah Rob, we're supposed to look like a paralyzed nation of 300 MILLION PEOPLE.
The Marines and (probably a nice Drone Unit) are now on the ground. It will get cleaned up thanks to a President who knows how to utilize the assets at his disposal.
I know that's not what you want to hear. But it is what it is.

Um he is the President, isn't he? If this were Bush flying off to Crawford, the left would be screaming bloody murder.

If he takes the job of President, most people would expect him to actually stick around and LEAD when four of his employees get murdered...

But I think like a rational conservative.

subrob, this is a specious argument EVEN for you.
From the looks of the resources coming together, perhaps you "conservatives" ought to get with the times. It's not like the old days when your President had to break away from his date with "Dick & Jane".
But okay I get it. It bothers you the President you hate is good at his job, that you can't even wait for a reasonable amount of information to unfold before you're screaming "He's a witch".

kdsub -> RE: Well done Pastor Jones. (9/12/2012 8:59:40 PM)

I haven’t read any of the responses to this thread so forgive me if I am repeating sentiments and also forgive my anger.

There is something wrong…very wrong with a religion that can produced such animals. Mohammad would surely be ashamed of the way his religion has been bastardized by the backward, the ignorant, and the vile that act in his name.

It is time to call this religion for what it is…a curse on the earth with no redeeming value. Too many times this religion has spawned murderers. A religion of forgiveness, integrity, and worth would rise up against those that would kill in its name. Not this religion…they make excuses for the murderers rather then condemn them.

For the last 50 years mankind has made great strides in human rights but these bastards are doing there best to pull us back to the middle ages and the tyranny of religious rule.

How do you account for the 250 thousand Iraqis(more or less) who got killed by us or in the civil war bush sparked, in Iraq?

Not sure we have the moral high ground anymore.......not since george bush and the vice-torturer.....dick.

TheHeretic -> RE: Well done Pastor Jones. (9/12/2012 9:19:37 PM)

Will you be contributing anything at all to the subject of the thread, Owner59, or is it all going to be stupid lies about what other people have said, and hijack attempts?

Here. Watch the trailer.

Too pissed to answer you...at first I wrote that I wished I could have helped more but that is only my anger speaking…So… best I just shut up and cool down.

I'm tired of people who try to justify actions like these... There is no excuse no matter what the provocation. What is wrong is wrong.

I`ll agree with this....killing can rarely,if ever be justified.

And hate begets hate.

Considering rich`s proclivaty for Islamaphobia....even during this very tragedy, as we post,I think it`s fair to say that nobody has a higher moral ground and blaming wildly doesn`t help.

I would hope folks will consider that these diplomates died for the freedom of those ass-hats who made the film and were defending those very ideals, with the statement released hours before the attack, concerning the film.

I would also hope that our extremsit righties would consider that it was the victim of the attack himself,Embassator Stevens, who released the statement.......that Mitt and the lunatic fringe are now denouncing.......

I left a link earlier in the thread where Jones said he met the producer regards promoting the film...... Pastour Douchebag fitted him well even before this event, let alone since.
