ORIGINAL: joether This video came up on videosift.com recently. Its a video from The Young Turks (TYT). In it, there is a poll regarding whom should get credit for killing Osama bin Laden. This isnt about all the SEALS, pilots, trainers, staff & support, command persons or the intelligence community. They all did very well. That wasnt the point of this poll. This poll was asking, which person running for the White House in 2012 should get credit for stopping Osama bin Laden, President Obama or Mr Romney. If your a sane person, make sure you have a few pillows under your chin, so it doesnt hit the floor to fast and break. Remember folks, this is of Ohio voters, which is a swing state for this election. Be prepared to be....shocked! As is typical of TYT, only one side was presented. Admittedly, this is a huge head scratcher as Romney had little to do with any foreign policies (holding out possibility for partial credit in case Bain had anything to do with the manufacturing of weapons or other such stuff), let alone anything at all to do with the operation that killed bin Laden. From page 7 of the PPP Ohio release, the %'s of people who think Romney more responsible than Obama: 6% of Ohio likely voters (sample size 1,072; most accurate polling demographic) Based on Self-Identified Ideology: Very Conservative -- 15% Somewhat Conservative -- 6% Moderate -- 3% Somewhat Liberal -- 4% Very Liberal -- 4% Based on Self-Identified Party Affiliation: Democrat -- 1% (4.4 out of 444)* Republican -- 15% (59.6 out of 396)* Independent -- 1% ( 2.3 out of 236)* Based on Race: White -- 6% African American -- 3% Other -- 12% Based on Age: 18-29 -- 9% 30-45 -- 5% 46-65 -- 6% 65+ -- 6% *Addition errors brought to you courtesy of rounding rules Makes one sit back, put your head in your palms and just shake back and forth. I can't see how anyone could think Romney had more to do with it than Obama. Damn it, Ohio! We can do better than this!!! This isnt meant as a 'slam' towards the intelligence or wisdom of Ohio voters. It is stating that there are Ohio voters in surprisingly large numbers that argue Mitt Romney, someone that had NOTHING to do with the planning or execution, should be given credit for taking down Osama bin Laden. That is the thrust of this thread. He is believe to have done something that the history books KNOW he is not entitled to receive credit. But yet, the conservative folks can not accept what the President did for the nation in any form. So a total, absolutely, and well verified lie is better than being honest and truthful. Its one thing when Mr. Romney lies in his speechs, and usually the facts come out twenty-four hours later. Its another, when the folks that would vote for him, accept total lies rather than to honestly be actual adults and give credit where credit is due. Back during the early part of the Iraq invasion, most folks in the nation, believed Saddam had 'massive stockpiles of WMDs'. There were folks that did not want the war; the peace types in particular. But at that time, most folks across the country and in Congress believed the President (George W. Bush at the time) would have access to information that could not be widely circulated for obvious reasons. When it came out that those WMDs were as false as flies growing out of smelly cloths, the people got understandably angery. This is not the case with a sizeable group of conservatives in the state of Ohio. The facts are widely circulated. One could make a discussion on the depth of the actual President's involvement into the operation, providing they had details and facts to back them up. But this isnt about how much 'work' and 'effort' the President placed into the operation. This is 'who should receive credit' when the options are A) President Obama or B) Mr. Romney. This sizable group of conservatives state something that is boldly false. And they demand others take them seriously in the future? If this percentage of conservatives really believe this, its fair to question whether they are sane enough to vote in the next election. If they dont believe it, but state it to 'turn the screw of hatred towards the President a half turn', what does that say of their maturity level? Shouldnt we have adults whom are mature voting? Rather than mentally and emotionally compromised individuals who may also be so ignorant of recent US History as to render then unequipped to render a conscious decision?
