Curious to know if the following scenario is too "extreme" or outside the limits of most people.

A group of maybe 30 or 40 sets of Dom/mes and Subs/Slaves attend a week long "retreat" at a private resort. The first night might include an "Opening Ceremony" at which time the slaves are all brought in and shown to the group. One at a time they would be stripped and collared. Their clothes would be burned, signifying that they would spend the entire week completely naked. All the Dom/Dommes would have a chance to inspect each of the slaves, who may be blindfolded and placed in a set of stocks, lined up all in a line, next to each other.

The next night might include a slave auction at which time any Dom/me might "purchase" for the night the slave of their choice. Actually, over the course of a week, maybe there would be several such auctions so Dom/mes would have the chance to have the pleasure of the use of several slaves over the course of the week.

Several days may include "slave olympic" events where slaves are required to compete in all kinds of different contests, which might include tring to provide the best oral sex, take the most dramatic whipping, endure the most extreme bondage, and any number of other contests that the Dom/mes might dream up.

There might be seminars, presentations, and other organized (and unorganized) activities. Some Dom/mes may want to informally "trade for a short time" their respective slaves.

I suppose there might be all kinds of reasons why such an activity might be beyond a slave's limits --- or for that matter, a Dom/mes' limits, but curious if people think there actually people in the lifestyle that would enjoy such an event.

Sounds good to me. I have a lot of yardwork to be done.

Nope, because most of us won't submit to just anyone. Things he can do are not things I would feel comfortable letting anyone else do. And he couldn't do them on day one.

And you would need a lab clinic to test everyone since tests done at any earlier time aren't worth a dime.

Remember Rosie in the movie Exit to Eden? He says, "how can I fulfill your fantasies". She says, "go paint my house".

Video clip link The OP is basically the island set up in Exit to Eden and a dozen other romance novels.

I know several people who would love this type of event.

I'm not one of them, but then, my hedonism is discriminatory.

Alecta -> RE: BDSM Conference/Auction/Olympics (9/16/2012 9:35:25 PM)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they use to do this in Rome every second year, and Athens as well?

There's nothing "extreme" or "edgy" about the idea. Your problems are going to be tiredly mundane logistics issues like where are you going to find as many as 30, 40 committed D/s couples all into the exact same fantasy as you, willing to auction off their partners to strangers? Where are you going to hold them all? Feed them all, ensure the security and privacy of all? And you're neglecting the mandatory 80 to 90% who after expressing an interest in such a thing while on the anonymity of the internet, will suddenly balk when it comes to registration time, and the remaining 40 to 60% of those registered who may chicken out and just not turn up.

Cool idea for a singles charity mixer though.

Didn't Ann Rice write about this?

littlewonder -> RE: BDSM Conference/Auction/Olympics (9/16/2012 10:10:10 PM)

There are bdsm camps all around that do just this kinda stuff.

Extreme? Nah...boring to me? Yup.

Alecta -> RE: BDSM Conference/Auction/Olympics (9/16/2012 10:13:17 PM)

Did she? I honestly don't remember very much about her work beyond "Interview with a Vampire", and that's mostly due to a poignant fanfic about Lestat and a groupie.

Yes she did this in her Beauty books

AthenaSurrenders -> RE: BDSM Conference/Auction/Olympics (9/16/2012 11:16:29 PM)

I don't think it's too extreme, I just think it's too unrealistic to make happen.

Like Alecta said, you need a large group of people with the same interests first of all. Most D/s couples will either not share partners, share only for very specific scenes, or with very specific people. Some will only share with a particular gender, or only share for scenes where the dom is also present/involved. Even those who are up for sharing are likely to want to have at least met each other before and/or have some kind of vetting in place. So either the auction becomes less of an auction and more a heavily pre-negotiated act, or you have to find a whole bunch of people who have very lax boundaries for sharing.

Even when BDSM clubs do hold auctions, I imagine they are events that take place amongst a group of regulars who already know each other and have a degree of trust. So maybe if you could somehow get your whole local BDSM club to go on holiday together?

Then as has already been pointed out, you need somewhere safe and affordable to go, feeding arrangements, someone needs to provide and transport all this kit. Then there's the health and safety aspect of competing to take the most extreme beating - who will monitor this, and provide medical care afterwards.

Now for sure you could get people to an event with lots of demos and seminars. And you might get a handful of people willing to act some of this out as a well-planned play scene, but beyond that... nah. Too many things that could go wrong. You'd never get enough people together for it to work. Anything that involves a large outlay of time and money and relying on a large number of other people will struggle to get off the ground.

That said, I imagine lots of people would enjoy the fantasy, if you were to write it literotica style.

LadyPact -> RE: BDSM Conference/Auction/Olympics (9/16/2012 11:25:22 PM)

OP, have you ever been to a multiple day leather event?

As for auctions, I've held them. (If you use the search feature with the key word auction and My name, you'll find a few entries.) The ones that I've done have been at local groups, as Athena mentioned. The thing is, if you use real money, and are offering oral sex on the menu....... Yeah, that doesn't go well from a legal standpoint. Nothing like a raid to fuck up a good party.

Alecta -> RE: BDSM Conference/Auction/Olympics (9/16/2012 11:35:18 PM)

Not to mention the curious trend amongst as real live lifestylers to prefer paying for kink via charity pledges rather than real money.
