Chik-fil-A will stop funding anti gay groups.

Once confirmed I will quite enjoy going in for a delicious chicken sandwich again.

I didn't go there even before all this kerfluffle came about. I always liked KFC or Wendy's better.

I don't eat meat, so I wasn't eating there anyway, but I never understood why a fast food place would feel the need to take a position on gay marriage in the first place. They're in the business of selling chicken, and as long as the person coming in wants to buy chicken it shouldn't matter whether they're married to someone of the same sex or not.

Most major businesses are involved in charitable giving. It is quite common place.

I guess this just proves money mattered more in the end. Too much lost business due to its anti-gay stance? Big surprise.

I'm still not eating there.

I LOOOOOVE(d) Chik-fil-A...I've actually chosen flights through specific cities that had them and driven 80 miles to my final destination so I could enjoy one of their sandwiches...but "stopping funding for anti gay groups" is like asking the question "when did you stop beating your wife?"

There's no possible correct answer to that question.

They made their stance, and it's clear, regardless of their now new decision to remove funding from something they're more than fervent about.

All they did was say "I no longer beat my wife".

(They did beat their wife....that can't be changed).

Count me out on that corporation, and their food, for life.

They have a number of law suits filed against them as well:

Firing a non-christian for declining to take part in a Christian prayer during a business meeting.

Several claims of sexual discrimination including a woman that was fired so "she could be a stay home mother".

A six charges of sexual harassment.

http://www.salon.com/2012/08/03/chick_fil_a_too_sinful_to_fry_chicken/

In the past they had suits for firing gay employees.

Yes, I guess for me to eat there would require them to actually support gay causes....not likely to happen as you point out...

Another business caves and abandons their first amendment rights to special interests. Still the best chicken sandwich out there.

I'll stick to Chick-Fil-A m'self. I agree with LizDeluxe. I much prefer their chicken sandwiches to anyone else s out there right now.

I don't really give a fuck one way or the other about gay marriage anyway.

I'd be interested to know what their sales figures were after their artificial blip on "Chik-fil-A Appreciation Day" that the haters were crowing so much about.

As for me, I have never eaten at Chik-Fil-A and don't plan on eating there anytime soon... because there aren't any in my area. In fact, I had never even heard of them until this whole brouhaha began.

They are not abandoning their First Amendment rights. They are responding to the free speech of others. There is a difference between censure and censorship.

I thought maybe they were responding to the market.   Its what any business that wants to stay in business should do, we don't owe them a living.

Did they cave??? or did they feel the pressure of losing money based on their beliefs

People are choosing not to eat there, because of their anti-gay stance, they can keep their anti gay stance, and just accept the fact that they will lose money, which it appears they are not willing to do

People are talking with their money, sort of like a corporation talking with its money when it donates to politicians who have the same interests

in the end, they lost money because of their position, now they are saying they no longer believe it and want the money to start coming back in

which mine will not

Just so you know. I know a couple of gay kids in Ct. Who had the idea to organize around the country, with a plan to get random jobs at chick-fil-a franchises.  When I asked em what they were giong to do next, they just gave ne the evil grin.
  Enjoy your sandwich.

No that's true...however...that guy is paying franchise and materiel fees up the chain to the folks who do hold those beliefs. I can certainly appreciate that he is standing out, but he is still standing out in the middle of a huge religious fundamentalist mess. Bedfellows...

Just because they will no longer corporately fund those hate organizations, it does not change their actual beliefs one wit.

Not sorry they did it, just sorry they got caught.

I don't need a chicken sandwich that bad, thanks for the false sentiment tho...

They have their right to free speech. Just as everyone has the right to vote with their wallets and choose not to do business with a businesses that financially supports charities they don't agree with.
