Status: offline 		Dude, that willingness isn't necessarily going to make you more attractive to a Dominant. Most Dommes are going to know if they want you at all before they even think about marking you. Most males that put up cattle calls on discussion boards are usually a big turn off.

To answer the question though, clip got his first brand somewhere between a year and a half to the two year mark.

I'm bit embarrassed to admit this on a BDSM board, but I think I would be scared shitless of anyone wanting to brand me.

As for less painfull methods of modificaltion, the relationship would have had to have reached the point of marriage before I would be comfortable with something like that

It's all good. I love my microbrand, it was done with a cautery pen. To ME, it wasn't painful enough to matter. Try to do a violet wand brand on me and there would be a HELL NO. We've all got our tolerances.

A friend does branding professionally out of Fakir's studio in San Francisco, the work is beautiful and precise. Most of the skill in branding is actually designing the brand.

Status: offline 		One of my oldest hard limits, among the first I identified: No marks that are going to be around longer than the Dom who is suggesting them. So, I entirely agree with you, Rick. My last Master and I discussed adding a few more tats (I have one), and I'm so glad we didn't since it turned out not to be forever, and tats are. OTOH, it does to some degree depend on how one feels about the ex. My master before my last one, I tried to get to mark me with cuttings that represented a fantasy of his, he would not because he doubted that we were for the remained of his life, but even if we were, that was the longest possible we could be for, and he was considerably older than I. he didn't want to leave me with marks when he wasn't around and I was trying to get on with life. I have to say, i would not mind having those marks, even thoguh we eventually broke up, I understood the reasons and we still talk and I have the greatest respect and affection for him, though I have been able to move on. His marks I would appreciate, but he decided against it.

Status: offline 		I had hoped for a small brand and/or tattoo of Master's design...He being an artist and skilled metal-sculptor added to my confidence that it would be meaningful, beautiful, tasteful and well-done. As for the pain, well, I have a high tolerance for pain, even though I tend to avoid it whenever possible. But for a small tat or brand of His...I would gladly have endured.

As stated above, however, by tsatske, "No marks that are going to be around longer than the Dom who is suggesting them." The Master Who expects permanent markings should have the committment and intention of "forever", by first of all becoming a real-time relationship, for instance, and being mindful to the slave's well-being.
