When I meet someone local, I would not dream of playing with them on the first several meets. But in the past I have met with men where one of us traveled a great distance, truly, we usually end up playing. Partially this is because while I prefer to meet local guys sooner rather than later, when one of us is traveling alot, I want to talk a lot before we do that traveling, so the priorities are kind of reversed. I'd still expect to meet on nuetral ground, like going to get something to eat first thing, to make sure I'm comfortable. I second the suggestion to get a hotel for the first night. That way you can make sure you are comfortable staying in hhis place, or can leave if you want (taking a shuttle back to the airport, as someone said), or just slow things down by continuing to meet but staying in your hotel. It puts you back in some control. Make sure you set up scheduled safe calls with someone. Make one shortly after meeting him, like just a bit after your plane is supposed to touch down. His reaction to your saying you need to stop and make your safe call will tell you a lot, and is of more value than the call itself. (although, when I lived with a former Master in Cleavland, we had one girl show up to visit us for the weekend from another state who forgot to make her scheduled safe call. The police showed up at our door. Great fun :) ) I would NOT be shy about politely asking him about the descrepencies. He may not think there is an important differance in the words he uses to describe his sub, she might be part time but he doesn't always describe her/him that way. just ask. Tell him you don't care about the size of his home, but you're confused because he refers to it differantly in differant places. He should understand you want to clear up anything that is confusing. If he gets annoyed at you for asking questions, I would cancel. But that's just me.
