According to the polls, Obama's got an edge. But if you read the comments here and on the CNN/yahoo news sites, the pro-Obama folks are sounding increasingly condescending and confident, and the pro-Romney folks are sounding wilder and making statements such as boasting of the upcoming Romney landslide, and complaining about the bias of the liberal media. I've even read a couple of conservative commentators making allusions to an upcoming loss, such as Ann Coulter's statement about how, if the GOP cannot unseat Obama, they should just hang it up.

Add to that the fact that the Romney campaign can't figure out how to stay on issue, and the whole campaign is beginning to give off an air of being over.

Yet the numbers show that Romney is behind but within striking distance. And he's got the debates ahead of him and, if rumors are true, a plan to buy air time significantly for a last minute push.

Why the heck are so many acting like it's all over?

I dont think the gaffs on the video this week have helped Romney. That said, he should at least keep his campaign going until voting day. I dont see it being a landslide either way, but maybe Romneys people sense they are losing the floating voters.

it aint over till its over, lots can still happen... Im not surprised by any of it, its been a clusterfuck, more so than Palin and if anyone is proud of the GOPs handling of it, then they should be ashamed of themselves. Im likening it to a false flag event....but then I stsill dont believe the people behind the puppets want to win the presidency.
I hope whatever they have planned, its better than the "redistribution " clip
Im prepared to be amazed.....and let down!

I think this is just media spin. It's not over until it's over, and if one looks at the states that are still undecided and how many electoral votes are still in that category, it could still go either way. When I look at those states, it isn't immediately obvious which way they might swing.

A lot is going to depend on how many voters the Democrats are able to get out on election day. As has been show, repeatedly, when more voters turn out, things usually shift towards the Democrats. The Republicans simply rely on the fact that most liberal minded people in the country don't actually show up to vote.

So if anyone out there who is an Obama supporter lives in or near one of the swing states - the single most helpful thing you can do that day is to physically help bring people to the polls.

Yeah, Polite. Funny how the video just happens to show up right as the President's foreign policy chickens, especially the Libyan chicken that he decided was all his, have started coming home to roost. I think we can count on every bit of bad news about the state of my country under this administration being quickly followed by something that can be used to make Mitt Romney look bad.

President Obama has all the advantages of incumbency, plus a mainstream media that gives him tongue baths. He also has the elephant in the room, which will likely show up in October (surprise!). I believe Mitt Romney to be a talented, smart, and very decent man, who has done well with every job he's ever taken on, but he cannot compete with the President on charisma.

This election will be decided by the people who come out to vote, not by a weighted sample that answers the phone.

I have started a thread on the myth that all Libyans are terrorists. I am guessing current news from Libya wont fit into your ideals.

You republicans have started blaming everything and everyone for a possible defeat, even though the election is weeks away. If the swing voters dont vote for you, you have no one to blame But Romney and his campaign team.

You know what this looks exactly like in a lot in a lot of ways? The rhetoric from the GOP when Reagan ran the first time. What they don't get? There is NO SUCH THING AS A 'ROMNEY DEMOCRAT'!

The divide is too great, the splits too close for a landslide to occur.
But for what it is worth getting a 53 to 47(I love that number....lol) split is what passes for a mandate IMO.

Are you really suggesting that this sort of thing(the video) could be held back,in today's day of bloggers and 24 hour news cycle ?

Hi Steven,

I've not noticed that. I suspect most of the GOP are simply frustrated Mitt is not twenty points ahead already and that naturally goes against the grain of logic if we were talking about logic but we are not, we are talking about an emotional support for Obama that is still left over from 2008 and is very large indeed. One has a difficult time changing emotions with logic.
I think elections are in reality won over by emotions, don't you? The candidate that can touch the emotions of a voter gets their vote. Clinton is a master of being your best friend and touching a nerve in his listener and it matters not if what he is saying is exactly true or not and he does it without a teleprompter but Obama cannot. If you see the few video and sound bytes, played by mainstream media, of Mitt speaking to reporters on issues of this day you will see he is focused and strong and articulate and stirs the emotion with that common sense approach Clinton and Reagan uses. Obama is more like Carter who could not speak well unless he was prompted or rehearsed.
So, I am one of those who predict and hope for a landslide much like the Reagan landslide agains Carter who was about as much ahead, maybe more, in the polls (I mean, Reagan looked like toast) before the debates and he destroyed Carter in all but the first debate and went on to win by a landslide just a few weeks after being behind in the polls.

Naturally this is logic and emotion talking and so it may be weird that it works out that way.

Really? Teleprompters again?
Romney Finicky About His Teleprompters in Tampa

And how quickly people forget that, when speaking without teleprompters, Obama crushed McCain in their debates.

I did not realize McCain was such a great speaker that one would measure themselves by his performance.

This is weird.

I read the article. It is entitled "Romney Finicky About His Teleprompters in Tampa".

The article content does not justify the use of word "finicky".

The article says, and I quote, "Mitt Romney stood on stage at the Tampa Bay Times Forum for several minutes Thursday afternoon while his teleprompters were adjusted". What it did not say was that everyone had the teleprompter settings adjusted to their preference including Obama and excluding Ms Rice.

So, Mitt Romney standing on stage like everyone else while their teleprompter is adjusted is news or worthy of concluding that somehow Mitt is "finicky" or that somehow this defends Obama against charges of his overuse and reliance on pompters and that he is helpless without them?

This is weird.

Believe it or not...this election will be decided on 'conservatism.' Yes, most people will not want any change in govt. now except for maybe a few votes in a very partisan congress.

Romnuts is way too much of an unknown, won't reveal, or is a my-mind-is-made-up type of guy and thus becomes a big crap shoot to vote for. That's the advantage of incumbency.

That's how a G.W. Bush can be re-elected, demonstrating...ANYBODY can be elected and re-elected...no matter what.

Oh not this shit again? When did he lie through his teeth as we know who...that there were WMD's in Lybia that we must go to war to find and remove ? Ownership my ass.
