Can Ryan save the campaign if he is unleashed?

To be honest, I'm not sure how important the VP nominee is to voters' choices.

Back in the old days, a VP was chosen to "balance the ticket". Thus, JFK chose LBJ to deliver strength in the South, etc.

That seems to be less important now, and I don't recall a VP who was a positive influence on a ticket in recent times. That said, it's entirely possible for a VP pick to hurt a ticket, as Palin did by making voters question McCain's ability when he made the pick. In this case, I think that Ryan may have cost Romney Florida. If Obama takes Florida, Romney is very burnt toast.

I agree about Palin, but I think she may have been the exception that proves the rule.

If Romney loses, can Ryan emerge as the candidate-in-waiting for 2016?

Your thoughts . . . .

All I have to say about the guy is: Paul Ryan Calls Rape A “Method Of Conception”

Vid of him saying this- right here -------> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cat5SyMBSpk

anything further than this doesnt even matter. He can get fucked.

Its just unbelieveable someone hoping to become VP can come out with such crap.

Actually what is more unbelievable is that someone who comes out with crap like that could ever become a VP candidate. Says a lot about the GOP...

That depends on the poster. Some of our conservative folks make interesting points that set me to thinking. You may recall my interest in learning more about the post-WWI recession you brought up in another thread. Others, not so much. Ditto for the liberals, actually.

~FR~
Nancy Pelosi on TV a few minutes ago said the three main issues in this election are in this order of importance: 1.Medicare, 2.Medicare, 3.Medicare. And Paul Ryan's vouchercare is reason to vote against him.

Wonder if you agree with her on both counts.

Your thoughts . . .

tweakabelle -> RE: LET RYAN BE RYAN? (9/27/2012 7:42:55 AM)

There appears to have been a significant if not decisive swing in the polls towards Obama in the last few days.

It is impossible not to consider Ryan's pronouncements as a major factor driving that shift.

I just now am having this conversation about the word asswipe with the powers that be, and you know, I use that word alot.

It is my contention that a notion can be asswipe, but not a person. It is nonsensical to call a person asswipe.   They, as people; are more at [awaiting approval]  (sorry, cant tell you that one here).

DomYngBlk -> RE: LET RYAN BE RYAN? (9/27/2012 7:49:10 AM)

After seeing the clip of Romney trying to exhort the faithful to stop chanting "Ryan, Ryan Ryan" in favor of "Romey, Ryan, Romney, Ryan," I could almost feel sorry for Willard.
