"Republican women are more likely than Democratic ones to have stereotypically feminine facial features." Republican women look more feminine than Democrat women. That's from a UCLA study. This is not El Rushbo saying it. It's from a UCLA study where the two scientists conducted the study and had students take the tests. "In another experiment, Carpinella and Johnson used a computer program to measure how 'sex-typical' the faces of male and female Representatives were, looking at characteristics like jaw shape, lip fullness, and cheekbone placement (they discounted things like hair, makeup, and jewelry).

"They found that Republican women were more likely to have stereotypically feminine faces -- and the effect was more pronounced the more conservative their voting records were. The reverse was true for Democrats -- the more liberal their voting records, the less traditionally feminine their faces. The study authors call this 'the Michele Bachmann effect.'" I kid you not. That's what they call it: The Michele Bachmann Effect.

I wish this guy would have a stroke and couldnt talk anymore. Seriously.

The first link didn't work for me and the second is 4 years old and just an OP ED blog. I don't give any credibility to OP Eds nor wiki sources. I found a blog that says she's a republican and another that said she's never actually stated her affiliation but because of her UN job and high profile in that regard, she registered Indie to avoid conflict which rings much truer to me. I was going more by what she actually 'said' last week on the red carpet at the Emmy's. There is no doubt at all, though, that she's a liberal and both her and Brad Pitt have publically stated they are voting for Obama. I see no reason not to believe what came straight from the horses mouth over a 4 year old OP ed blog source.

Dem, Pub or Indie.. no matter.. I'd still do her... and her little brad, tooooooo.. muhaz!

Status: offline 		The study isn't of Democrat and Republican women, it is of Elected members of the House of Representatives, both sexes. The women were more feminine the more conservative they voted, as a trend. Less feminine in terms of normal social judgments the more liberal the voting record. The Republican men were Not more masculine! Somewhat less than their Democrat counterparts. Which I'll let others make connections about.

The authors brought up the interesting conflict that the voting public tends to see more feminine appearing women as less competent, less feminine looking women as more competent. A conundrum for the 'Family Values' party? Somehow I think I can predict the responses to that by the usual posters here.

Status: offline 		Fortunately,  science experiments need to be validated by peer review and reproducible. Until its validated and featured in scientific paper, I'll be leaning on the side of caution and consider it a steaming pile of BS ;)

But just to be clear, validity and pointless-non-issue-sideshow-distraction aside, the study is not of women in general, but of US women politicians.
