found the forums the day after I joined while trying to get some info on a collarme member interested in one of my friends.
I posted the very same day.
I was treated nicely, I suspect because while I was new to this site, I was not new to BDSM.
I have no favorite threads
I have no favorite posters.

When did you first discover the forums?
One of My past pets brought Me here. I kind of laughed the place off at first.

What was it like when you first started posting regularly? )Pretty good. Better than now. You have to remember, that's when folks like Archer and Geoff, and Merc and other folks were around this joint. People like Michael and LuckyAlbatross didn't pat folks on the head. It was better then.

Were people nice or mean to you? They were realistic, which is far better than nice or mean.

What are the most classic threads you can think of?
Beyond compare, tap, tap, tap. (Ya can't fuck with a classic.) That one about T showing that A wasn't such a big, bad, Master made Me laugh My ass off and if kids weren't involved, it would have been better. The "chicken soup" post. The best "positive experience" post that I was a part of. Arpig being exposed,

Who was/is your all time favorite poster?
Beyond a doubt, that was Master Dave. He's the man who capped Me and probably the best guy who has ever graced these forums. Of course, I'm biased.

I miss the anteater. I miss Domi. I miss Merc.

Someday, people might say they miss Me.

Within my first week on CollarMe:
I was bullied on a strap-on thread by a dildo size queen who was only interested in infinite anal dilation;
I received a couple of death threats, multiple rape and white slavery threats, and countless threatening and would-be demeaning comments and private msgs from would-be doms and switches, all very, VERY specific.

However, within a couple of months;
The size queen imploded; the kidnap/rape/forced caged prostitution/death threats settled down; some loud-mouth schnook doms keep stalking and pissing all over the forums [but now we have blocking and hiding: yay!], and I met, dated, collared and did lovely, lovely things to a lovely young man.

Smugness: knowing from his first fantasy post that a now-infamous faux-lesbaux duo thread was written by a would-be dom, but he and others pissed very severely over this forum and my mailbox, so his patchwork of lies would be my least favourite.

Always read Lady Pact's msgs., and enjoy reading how other lifestyle dommes deal with/are amused by common issues with male subs.

It took me a bit to realise we can't fix everything and everybody, so I have to force myself sometimes to turn off the computer and walk away from provocative topics, sadists, asperger-types and trollbait, but feel chuffed when I get private thank-you msgs for posts, journaling and advice I've given.

Himself found them and pointed them out to me after the group I was in for 6 or so years went defunct (the group owner went and got herself collared and moved out of the state and no one else really had the time to take the burden on. Prior to that, our group was comprised soley of people who knew and played together R/T in MN and it was a closed group. That was.. um.. Jan 2006, I think? Something like that.

Lots of high quality threads, moderate moderation, some but not much snark ... a good combination and most of the contentious stuff seemed to be between Goreans and non-Goreans butting heads.

quote:

Were people nice or mean to you?

They were mostly nice to my face, there were some exceptions, of course. I really don't know what they thought of me privately. Unlike other posters here, I rarely get emails in 'support' of my posts but I do once in a while and they almost always make my day mostly because they are so unexpected so when I see some newbie come on here claiming all sorts of emails from folks who are too fearful to post, I take it with a grain of salt as in I think they are mostly full of shit.

Here's a wee bit of history. I was the first person to ever use the word 'fuck' on the boards and after the initial 'gasps', people 'got' that using an adult word on an adult board was actually okay. So, ya'll can thank me for that one ... or not considering what transpired later on. lol

My favorite thread of all time was the one we had on Prop 8 in P&R.

Who was/is your all time favorite poster?

For the most part, my favorites are on what I call my stalkers list. When I log on, I check that list first to see if any of them made a post and if they did, I'll hit those threads up first.. even when I'm not particularly interested in the subject. That lists changes as people come and go, of course, but the quality of the postings of the people I stalk are, generally, pretty high, IMO (otherwise I wouldn't stalk them!) It's been a good long while since I added anyone to it and it just reminded me there is someone whom I've been meaning to add for a very long time and I keep forgetting so I'm going to go do that right now. lol

When did you first discover the forums? Odeen showed me the forum back in October 2011.

What was it like when you first started posting regularly? It took me 2 months of lurking before I started posting!

Were people nice or mean to you? Everyone's been nice to me.

What are the most classic threads you can think of? Too many. As a complete newbie to all of this I have found some threads to be educational and some have been down-right hilarious.

Who was/is your all time favorite poster? I could not single one person out. There are a bunch of people who I thoroughly enjoy reading the posts on, because like I said, they either teach me something or make me laugh.

When did you first discover the forums?

About 6 months after I joined.

What was it like when you first started posting regularly?

I was shocked by posters' outspokenness.

Were people nice or mean to you?

At first people were nice. Then I felt invisible. Then I became addicted.

What are the most classic threads you can think of?

There are many I would rather not revisit. But I really enjoyed this one:

Why do Parents tell their children fictional characters are real?: www.collarchat.com/m_3510975/mpage_1/tm.htm

Who was/is your all time favorite poster?

It changes frequently, but DarkSteven is always up there. I miss Domiguy. I miss Termy.

I discovered it pretty much on the day I signed up for the site, before I had this screen name. That was about in 2003 or so. I didn't start posting on the forums though until I met Master about 6 years ago and he encouraged me to post on here. When I first started posting it was pretty much the same as it is now. There are peak times, there are low times, there are good mods and there are bad mods, etc....People were neither nice or mean to me. Then again, I've never really paid attention to when people are mean to me because I just don't see online as being anything at all to get upset about. I can't really think of any threads that I immensely loved to the point I remember it. And my all time favorite poster, Master of course.

When did you first discover the forums?
I've only been on here a few months!
I didn't make my otherside profile until way after I
started posting.

What was it like when you first started posting regularly?
Well I thought everyone here would be
really experienced compaired to me, so when I
realised I had a lot of unique points to add and
there were a lot of people more clueless than me,
I decided to post a bit, and haven't stopped since.

Were people nice or mean to you?
A few people have stuck me as being
nice, some have come across as losers, I don't take
it to heart either way.

What are the most classic threads you can think of?
I didn't like tap tap tap to much...
So... Probably "TRAIN WRECK". Told you I'm new.

Who was/is your all time favorite poster?
Don't know yet... And I don't play
favourites anyway. But a notable pair of posters that
I like reading are Kana&LW.

When did you first discover the forums? i was looking for a new 'sexual' related forum to post in. i am/have been a member of other sites too. one has dubious mods, and owners who condone their dodgy practices, so i'm nolonger a member there. another is just exceptionally quiet these days, so not much to entertain me. a couple of others either contain some of the same people from the first site, or i don't like how the site is set out.

What was it like when you first started posting regularly? right from the start. i wanted somewhere that was quite busy, and this site fitted the bill.

Were people nice or mean to you? erm, mostly people were nice to me. although i did post my opinion about a subject and had some people jump all over me for it. when i used an experience from my own life to justify why i felt like i did i had some not too pleasent replies to that. however, the way i looked at it is that we are all different, and people don't always agree. those people didn't/don't know me, so their perception of how i was putting myself over may not have been the same as if i'd been here for a while. i could have got all emotional about it, and left. i'm really not that thin skinned though, so i stayed. i'm also very capable of fighting my own corner, so it's all fine when someone want to call me out on my opinion, or knowledge.

What are the most classic threads you can think of? i don't really remember threads as such unless i have to think back about a particular poster. one that does stick in my mind though is a guy who came in one night claiming that all over weight people were just greedy, and lazy. that even cancer patients had no excuse for putting weight on. i also remember some really good threads by FurkinTroll.

Who was/is your all time favorite poster? i did really like reading FurkinTroll's posts. also i like to see LillyBoPeep when she pops back in. there are a few regular posters now that i enjoy.....Hibbie, GT, LP, LaT, Cryptic, RemoteUser, Poise, Lucifyre, and some others. there are also some i really don't miss too. i have only ever hidden one person on here, and blocked them because they contacted me on the other side. the only reason for it was that he was an antagonist, and also i had to really struggle to make sence of his stuff. it just wasn't worth my time. generally i think that while i may not always agree with people, i may find something else they have to say really informative, or funny.

When did you first discover the forums?
Somewhere around 2003. It must have been right after CM came on.

What was it like when you first started posting regularly?
Way different. It was a real small tight knit community. Almost no fakes. Very few BS questions...and, no coincidence here, much less modding, or need to

Were people nice or mean to you?
They were about as nice as can be. Matter of fact my first post was asking for profile advice and I got terrific feedback. Now of course, I came on real soft (CM may have been the first web forum I ever posted on so I knew almost nothing about protocols)and showed some respect for the folk who had been here before me, and that smoothed the transition a lot

What are the most classic threads you can think of?
Too many to count

Who was/is your all time favorite poster?
There were lots. DaddynBlonde(?),MadRabbit, Domi, Jeffff, FangsnFeet gave me great advice,MercnBeth,Stephann(?) I learn from almost everyone, even the idiots...because ofttimes the power of a negative example is farfar greater than that of a positive one. I learned what not to do as well as what to do and that was critical.

I came to this side early in 2005 on another nic...then there were Issues... anyway, this used to be a lively place with lots of ideas and discussions from a lot of good people.

People have always been nice to me, except for the ones who aren't nice to anyone. People like flowers!

I have a great memory for text, but it needs a trigger. There aren't any threads that stand out other than what folks mentioned already. Loveit/Hate it, Holly & Pots, and the I admit are where the good times are.

My favourite posters are my friends, there why I stay here. It's why I try to add everyone on Fet or FB as well.

When did you first discover the forums?
2007. I was living in a lonely town and desperate for connection. I'd been in the chatrooms a bit, and they just weren't holding any appeal. Too much role play and not enough discussion.

What was it like when you first started posting regularly?
I realized how naive I was about life. I was naive about that for awhile though. *ahem*

Were people nice or mean to you?
They were how they were. I was a mite sensitive, so I don't think I can really say.

What are the most classic threads you can think of?
Sunny Quote of the Day of course!

Who was/is your all time favorite poster?
A lot of folks... and I am happy to say that most of them are real life friends now, and I've met nearly all of them.
I miss Mad Rabbit (although he's come back in at least one incarnation). The Troll. I remember the first time he "slurped" me. I think his slurp made it all the way to my panties.

Right off the get go, i was posting. But only on the health and safety section, mainly because that was something i knew about, professionally, and i saw some info that was being posted that was about as useful as being told to put butter on a burn- lol.

I've been involved in a couple of snarkfests, and been modspanked a couple of times, but for the most part my experiences on collarme have been a lot of fun, and some good info.

As far as favourite posters- the one i really remember and can't remember his name was a yorkshire fellow with fabulous abs, who posted in brogue. He was fabulous, in part because it reminded me of watching the worlds longest running soap opera "Coronation Street". He was also very funny.

I don't remember when I joined/began to participate on the forums.

I guess I did ok, cause I have a bunch of RT friends to show from the cyber intros.

tap tap tap, absolutely the winner, hands down...

many posters have enriched my life over time. Many of those mentioned, and even kevin, because who DOESN'T need a laugh? no favorite, though.

I don't remember when I first participated on the message boards, but I had never done so, or used chat rooms before.

So, I was a bit more snarky those days and got into stupid fights. I also got banned by someone for a time.

I enjoyed the boards more then, very interesting posters and better threads.

Now, they have gotten a bit boring. I still enjoy certain posters, but it is highly predictable now, whereas before, you never knew what a thread would turn into.

Favorite posters missed? A lot of people who used to make me laugh. There were way better flirts then too, like FukinTroll. :)

When did you first discover the forums?

A few months after I joined the site....not sure exactly.

What was it like when you first started posting regularly?

It seemed like there were A LOT more people that actually did this shit rather than RPGing. Except for the gorean section. The gorean section was A LOT more lively then as well.

Were people nice or mean to you?

I have always felt that the people here are delightfully kind and welcoming. The people that feel otherwise tend to be one of two things, idiots that get exactly what they ask for (either conciously or not) or overly sensitive and insecure. Not to mention seriously lacking in a sense of humour.

What are the most classic threads you can think of?

My memory sucks too much to remember all the classics. Tap tap has to be one of the best EVER.

Who was/is your all time favorite poster?

Many. The one who's name I remember and wonder about, Benji. The one I wonder about who's name I forget, a young guy from the east coast. Tried to have a saucy attitude but underneath was a good kid......and I just remembered! Treswank. I worried about that kid. There are a few figments of people's imagination I miss as well.

I started posting on another username in 2011 before I started posting on this one. The forums were much like they are now but more lax in moderation. On my first username, I was usually ignored, responded to respectfully/reasonably, or targeted because of my age/gender (although they'd often go to the other side to do it).

I don't really have answers to the other two. I've never been involved enough to notice classic threads and I like the majority of the regular posters.
