sumoslave -> Someone please help! (9/29/2012 2:22:29 PM)

I'm seeking to relocate to India as a slave. I'm not seeking any money & on the contrary I'm paying for everything. I didn't know about the limits of sending messages, so I started sending messages offering myself. my account has been blocked now & the worst part of it is that there's an attachment to my messages saying that they're fake. Will someone PLEASE remove this because it took HOURS to go through the India profiles & determine to whom I wanted to send messages. I know better now but I don't want all those people to think I'm a spammer. Thank you!

obeyxmilla -> RE: Someone please help! (9/29/2012 2:25:52 PM)

It doesn't say you're a fake. It says you're a spammer because well, you are.

Lesson learned.

sumoslave -> RE: Someone please help! (9/29/2012 2:30:34 PM)

Actually, I'm not a spammer. As I mentioned, I chose the people to whom I sent the messages.

DaddySatyr -> RE: Someone please help! (9/29/2012 2:35:47 PM)

*** The sender of this message has triggered our bulk content filter and has been prevented from sending additional messages at this time. We place these limits on our messaging system to prevent abuse and maintain the quality of our online community. You should not conclude that this user is fake or illegitimate merely because they have triggered the filter. ***

Now, people will be people and I would assume that the sender is a fake but, that's just me, a mean-spirited, closed-minded, git.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Exactly, I personally would simply delete the email too. [:(]

Yes, I know we're in Introductions, so I'm going to start this by saying welcome to the forums.

Ok, I've got to ask. Just because you picked the people that you wanted to send the mail to, why does that not make it spam? The very definition of email spam is unsolicited offers via email. Have you read the site's spam policy by any chance?

The site actually does provide the information on how to avoid triggering the spam filter. Here's that part from the help page:

quote:

Why am I temporarily blocked from sending messages by the spam filter?

Our spam filter monitors the onsite messages you send to other users and will be activated if it determines that you're sending out a large number of generic messages. To prevent the filter from activating we recommend that you take the time to read the profiles of the other users on the site and send a personalized message to those that interest you. This is also a great way to get good responses back.

A nice Mod is probably going to come along soon to help you. In the meantime, there are some posts in the off topic section from other folks who also sent out a bunch of mail, but said they weren't spammers, either.

ETA - By the way, you should probably know that I am one of those folks who has no hesitation in hitting that "mark as spam and delete" button when I get crap that I don't want.

Enjoy your day.

sumoslave -> RE: Someone please help! (9/29/2012 2:59:01 PM)

It's not spam because I'm not offering a product, trying to sell something, etc. The purpose of this site is for people to meet, interact, etc. Their profile(s) stated they're seeking something/someone & I responded.

LadyPact -> RE: Someone please help! (9/29/2012 3:10:09 PM)

For what it's worth, you may not be offering a product, but that doesn't mean that offering yourself is any different. Not every person who is seeking is specifically seeking you. Not everybody wants emails from those who are not already local to them or are interested in people who are willing to relocate. Those who are may not be interested in you due to your age, your kinks, or hundreds of other reasons.

It's darn near always a bad idea to just start emailing tons of people. It shows that you're one of those "anybody will do" types.

I'm sure a Mod can explain this much better than I can.

sumoslave -> RE: Someone please help! (9/29/2012 3:15:52 PM)

I appreciate the purpose of the spam filter & I see your point if I had simply gone down the line sending emails. As I mentioned, I spent hours reading profiles & chose whom to contact based on possible compatibility. There's no way of knowing, until two people begin communicating & interacting.

Hello and welcome to CM.

The purpose of this site for some is to meet and interact, even if someone's profile states they are seeking someone, that does not mean it is you- therefore in that case you would be spam. Many of the people you wrote may have felt you were spam and reported it as such which can also trigger the spam filter. I do report any unsolicited email that I get as spam. I never asked for it, and if the person weren't sending out a ton of stuff to a bunch of other people then they wouldn't be marking it as spam either.

sumoslave -> RE: Someone please help! (9/29/2012 3:20:05 PM)

They or I won't know if it's me they seek until either makes an attempt to communicate. If everyone sits around waiting for everyone else to make the first contact, people would never meet.

VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: Someone please help! (9/29/2012 3:20:06 PM)

Welcome to the forums. The filter is auto triggered and there is no way to remove it. When it resets itself, it is suggested that you take the time to write something personal to each person you try to contact. Not only will you avoid the trigger, but you will have a higher probability of success.

sumoslave -> RE: Someone please help! (9/29/2012 3:21:49 PM)

While disappointed, I truly appreciate your response. How long does it take for it to be reset? Thank you.

kalikshama -> RE: Someone please help! (9/29/2012 5:55:32 PM)

I think it's 24 hours. Come back tomorrow night and let us know.

If you send me a sample first contact email I will be happy to critique it. Also check out the FAQs in Ask A Mistress.

Welcome!

KK

Identical messages sent out dozens of times also counts as spam.

Customise each message you send out. You can use a template I guess, but personally I just find it annoying when the email I get shows no understanding or interest in my profile whatsoever. Take the time to write something thoughtful and personal to each person you are trying to get in contact with. It's time consuming but it shows you're interested in them as a person, not just a fantasy sockpuppet.
