Where does that leave us dumb, ugly guys?

You're safe, for the following reasons:

1. There are plenty of dumb, ugly girls.
2. More importantly, there's a big market for down to earth and funny.

I think smart, good looking guys are ruining it for the rest of us. =P

That's what I think about all the smart, good looking women. Thank god for guys with low standards!

I would like to add that in addition to confidence, if you're able to carry a conversation (about more than just what makes you hard) you're going to be better off than a lot of people. I think that's what some women mean by "intelligent" because if you can't hold your weight in general conversation, you do come off as dumb. You're not expected to be an expert on everything or even any one thing, nor are you expected to know something about every topic that might come up. But a lot of people suck horribly at carrying a conversation online (replying with only one line to a couple of paragraphs, ignoring questions, not asking questions of your own that might be relevant to the topic, just generally forcing the other person to do all the work of keeping the conversation going), and that can quickly get you shuffled off to the "not interested" pile when contacting somebody new.

OP - gg09 caught it - You are, obviously, not stupid, nor are you hideous to look at. You have a quirky sense of humor and a fair grasp of what your charms are. Look for the person inside the package and you will be appreciated for your self, as well.

Best luck!

Its called survival of the fittest. - if you're having that big of a problem - start dishing out huge quantities of liquor to easy women. They'll be high- tailed gone the next morning - but hey ugly dumb asses can't be choosers .

I'm smart as hell and handsome. OTOH, I'm terribly uncomfortable in social situations. So I often sit there and envy the dumb, semi-ugly dude surrounded by cute women because he makes them laugh and isn't afraid to ask for a 'yes'.

I've had periods where I was capable of that; but I had to be rather hateful of women to get me there. I couldn't do that now if I tried... besides, it didn't result in lasting relationships anyway. Though to be fair, neither has being the respectful wallflower.

I'm sure there are some out there who would laugh at me complaining. Point is, even when it looks nice the grass isn't necessarily greener; could just be the angle you're seeing it from.

When the stalk dropped me off, he missed the chimney & I fell into an ugly tree hitting every branch on the way down. I got beaten with an ugly stick every day as a child (sobs) & shave with an ugly razorjust to keep my standards low.

I still get laid.

Mind you they are all sympathy fucks.,

You know, I have the hugest crush on Alan Rickman. He aint a good looking guy. And he's a good bit older than my father. But I have a few friends who agree. He just has that....je ne sais quoi.

My husband is very smart, and good looking, but painfully shy in groups of people. If it wasn't for the internet, he would have had an awful time meeting women, since the thought of going out to a party to meet women is overwhelming to him. Lucky for me, since he's way out of my league.

I have never been attracted to the stereotypical 'handsome' guy.

Sure, I can appreciate the aesthetics of their appearance, but it's never floated my boat, and I've never understood why.

Instead, I go for guys who get me right between the ears - get my brain working and my mouth laughing and you've pulled

Master isn't traditionally handsome, but then again I'm not traditionally beautiful. That doesn't matter - I love him, and that makes him attractive in my eyes. And vice versa.

It's comical, how some men think they're ugly.

Stupid is ugly. Mean is ugly. Deceitful is ugly.

Women...are really really forgiving of those they like when it comes to looks. In spite of that thread on height. ;)

Naaah Hibby what's comical is how some men get so bent out of shape about it.

i'd say that what Niney said applies to woman too. not so much comical, but woman get wound up about it too.

as for confidence, it is a good thing, but large ego doses of it is ugly too.

Well, there's confidence, and there's egotism.

I once dated a guy that had been electrocuted as a young adult. He had a huge scar on most of the right side of his head and face. He was a double amputee. When he smiled I had to smile back. He had a sense of humour that lit up my soul and a sense of adventure and wonder about life that healed a lot of ugly I'd previously experienced. He was also 20 years older than me. That 'ogre' was exactly what I needed in my life, at the time.
