marcellarae -> What am I? (9/30/2012 10:18:17 PM)

I have always been submissive, even in childhood. I've been involved in this lifestyle on and off for over 20 years, but I've always been just a play sub. Since meeting and being with my current Master, I have realized that I am notr a play sub, but a full-time sub - I think I always was full-time, but never with the right Dom to be able to be so. He and I don't live together, but we are together practically everyday as I work for/with him. No matter what we are doing, playing or working, I am subservient to him. He wants something, he tells me and I get it. He wants me to do something for or to him, I do it. I never hesitate or ask questions, I just do whatever it is he wants me to do. I equate this to breathing - I don't even think about it, I just do it instinctively.

My question is this: Does this make me a submissive or a slave? I don't mind either designation, I often refer to myself as either anyway, I just want clarification.

Thank you. :)

Are there things you won't do? Do you have a safeword?

Personally I would label you a slave but hey, whatever he calls you, that's what you are. Why don't you ask him?

LadyPact -> RE: What am I? (9/30/2012 11:03:02 PM)

Aw, hon...... Only you know that.

gungadin09 -> RE: What am I? (10/1/2012 12:57:12 AM)

I'd say: you are whichever he says.

Pam

i would say that it doesn't really matter either way. Whatever you two want to call yourself is good with me.

chatterbox24 -> RE: What am I? (10/1/2012 5:04:06 AM)

If you do EVERYTHING and don't question him, in my mind you are a slave. BUt I am not you, what does your mind tell you.

myotherself -> RE: What am I? (10/1/2012 7:12:02 AM)

Master says I'm his slave.

There are those who would disagree and say that I'm his submissive.

We don't care - our definition is the only one that counts for us.

I think it'll be the same for you too [:D]

So far, he hasn't asked me to do anything that I wouldn't do. He knows me very well, I haven't had to tell him much about what I desire, he just figured it out. As for a safe word, no I don't have one and with him don't feel I need one. He's a risk taker, but he doesn't take uncalculated risks, so I don't fear that he'd have me do anything he thought was uncomfortable for either of us.

I'm going to discuss it with him today.

You're right, but being an indecisive person, I like to get opinions from others to help me see if I'm right or wrong. Sort of like asking the audience on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. lol

I agree and I'm going to discuss it with him today.

My mind tells me I'm his slave and I like that. :)

I think I'm his slave but I don't know what he thinks. He does treat me as such so I guess he might think so as well. I will talk to him about this today.

Thank you all for your input and opinions. I appreciate it. :)

I think you're going to find that labels really don't matter very much. If you choose any random subs or slaves on CollarMe and asked them to describe their dynamic, every single one would be very different than the others. Moreover, some who describe themselves as "subs" might sound more like "slaves" to you. Others who described themselves as "slaves" might sound more like "subs" to you.

The reality is that the labels really don't matter very much. They're a helpful tool when trying to describe your relationship to others, but beyond that, they really don't serve much of a purpose. As long and you and he are happy, the labels don't really do much.

These are great words of wisdom.

Don't get too hung up on labels. Just find a dynamic that works for you and have fun.

MasterPandy -> RE: What am I? (10/2/2012 4:05:21 AM)

In the context of BDSM, I don't think there is an "official" definition of what a slave is as opposed to a submissive.

The dictionary defines slave as:
1. a person who is the property of and wholly subject to another; a bond servant. 2. a person entirely under the domination of some influence or person: So based on that, I would say if you submit solely to your Master in everything then you are a slave. The fact you refer to him as Master suggests to me that is what you are anyway and that inside your mind is probably made up.

Very true and I agree.

Thank you. :)

Thank you :).

As some here have stated, the label isn't important. I know it's not, but the feeling is. I feel like his slave, and I'm quite content with that.

Again, I appreciate all the opinions, they were very helpful. :)
