What do you consider a pain slut? - 10/1/2012 12:26:40 PM

The recent definition I read was a masochist who enjoys heavy amounts of pain and becomes aroused by it.

I am a masochist, I am aroused by pain, but I have some very specific limits regarding pain. After attending a few play parties and watching some scenes, I am gonna say my pain tolerance is FAR from heavy by comparison.

So that being said, I do no consider myself a pain slut. But a friend recently accused me of being one. I argued the above point, and she insisted I was still a pain slut because I am aroused by pain.

I don't want to claim anything that might get a potential D-types hopes up and it not be true in the sense they had hoped for, so I ask you all.

What do you consider a pain slut? Is there a threshold for the amount of pain that can be tolerated to be considered a pain slut? Is the ability to orgasm from pain play important to being a pain slut? Are you still a pain slut even if you only have the appropriate pain tolerance and arousal while you are in subspace?

I do think it's a subjective thing. I think that masochism is essential to being a pain slut, but not subspace, and certainly not sexual arousal.

Even people who are serious masochists don't like EVERY kind of play, and there are things that some people find scary/painful that I enjoy doing, but don't hit my sadist buttons.

If you feel that you're not a pain puppy, don't use that descriptor for yourself. Let it be a fun surprise!! There is a large element of trust involved in heavy play, and if you find someone you really feel safe with, you might feel like going further with that person.

Some people are very aroused by certain kinds of pain. YAY for them! I am willing to be that you are not equally aroused by caning as by needle play as by harsh bondage.

From my pretty inexperienced point of view,
I consider any maso a pain slut.

Am I missing the subtleties?

To Me, the term pain slut is very subjective. Quite wrapped up in how much a person can take and how much that person craves the heavier side of pain. I've had a couple of people *stop* calling themselves pain sluts after playing with Me. Not, because they had a bad experience, but because they were ready to call a halt far before taking everything I could dish out. They loved it, but it was still way lighter than My level. To another person who labels themselves a sadist, but is really just kind of a spanko, yes, those same folks would have been pain sluts. It's all relative.

People who I swear have never seen me play call me "scary". I am thinking that they say the same about LP. Very few people tell me that they are pain sluts.

Which is not to say that I can't have fun with a whole range of people. As long as they don't use the word "sensual". ~shudder~

Pain slut = a human with an undefined line between orgasm and ouch. Mood, attraction, the scene, all affect the trigger point. I have made a maso cum with a simple nipple pinch and again only after a prolonged scene ending in a relatively dry ass fuck which finally sent her over. SO you see there is no simple answer as to defining a "pain slut", at least from my experience.

Probably to each their own on the terms. Let us face it, if a female went all gooey while eating chocolate, does she become a chocolate slut....lol.

Just like different levels of being a maso does not lessen the fact of the worth of the female. She might like to bleed, showing her worth to the male, she might just like the tinge of red to make her happy and wanton, does this mean either female is less of importance...nah.

Different people with different levels.

Yes!
And if she did things with the understanding
she would be getting chocolate as a reward,
I think it's fair to say she is a...

For me personally I do believe there is a fine line between masochism and being a pain slut. I think masochists enjoy and tolerate pain; but a painslut actually gets sexually aroused and sexual release from pain being inflicted on them. The alternate description would be someone who craves higher and higher levels of pain or can withstand high levels of pain being inflicted.

Personally for me, if I experience enough pain (from Him), it plus the subsequent subspace is basically as good as mind blowing sex.

Kana here
What do you consider a pain slut?
A gal who gets off on pain
Is there a threshold for the amount of pain that can be tolerated to be considered a pain slut?
It's not so much the amount of pain, but the fact that it's pain that hits her buttons
Is the ability to orgasm from pain play important to being a pain slut?
Maybe, maybe not.
Are you still a pain slut even if you only have the appropriate pain tolerance and arousal while you are in subspace?
You can call yourself whatever you want-why care what anyone else says?
My experience is that I play hard. Real hard. I've met gals who call themselves pain sluts and to them that means they like getting flogged. Others it means far far more. Its one of those you say Toma-toe, I say tom-ought-o sorta things
Hence, I don't take peeps word on such things until I find out for myself.
And that's a process all unto itself.

If you don't consider yourself a pain slut then you aren't, end of story. You define yourself, not a label.

I'm a pretty serrious masochist, and for a long time I didn't consider myself a painslut, because, I have to be in love, for it to kick in. and it has to be something he loves doing - I have to be serving him, not the other way around. But people have laughed at me after seeing me play, when I say I'm not a pain slut, so I give up. I guess I'm a pain slut.

I do get off on pain, just like I do on service. They don't have to both be present, as long as I'm serving a Master I adore, either or will work. I do like my play rather on the edge. I do enjoy pain that is still pain to me - that is, I enjoy playing with what I don't like. I don't know that any of these specific qualities are necessarry for the description. I agree that it's like any other label. You call yourself whatever feels right to you, and, in time, to anyone you happen to be in a relationship with, and those are the only people that matter anyway.
