Maybe I am just old fashioned, but I've been looking at windows 8 and I understand that

1) it has less public interest than vista did. That by a factor of 5 ! that reserves and pre orders are dismal!
2) MS has now deemed that tiles and touch screens are the wave of the future, Which I personally do not want.

Yet at the same time, I do not want to be out of date, and because of my chosen job field I can't afford to be out of date. What's a poor hacker to do.

I have a computer, I want a computer operating system, not a tablet operating system.

Microsoft wishes they could be Apple, and have all purchases run through their MS App store. Microsoft also lives in some fantasy land where the EU and US won't sue them into oblivion for thinking of trying this (Apple only gets away with this by not totally owning the market they play in).

Microsoft is run by corporate drones, and has all the creativity of the average block of dolomite.

I'd stick with Win7 until I reach a point in time where I need Win8 for something.

That is my plan as well.

I'm looking forward to Windows 8. I was able to use a virtual program in a cisco class I took last year. I loved it and I can't wait to use it.

I REALLY hope you are not using Vista. Vista has to be the worst windows base there ever was! OMG. I tried using it for a week on a computer my daughter had once and I went crazy with how it was set up. It was completely useless as far as I was concerned.

I installed windows 8 on one of my computers so I could be sure I can fix them.
UGH. I hate it. If I wanted a tablet I would buy one. If I wanted an all-in-one I would buy it.
I am sticking to 7. After looking around at 8 I know I can fix them, but what a PITA.

I have windows 7 ultimate running on both my Desktop and my netbook I call it Mini-me. I will ride the storm out, and when M$ understands that not everyone wants a tablet or a touch screen that they will move on to "The Next Big Thing"

I am completely out of date and am still using XP. It suits my needs. I am mostly a tablet person now. In fact, this morning I was using my son's laptop and it took me sincerely, at least a full minute to remember he didn't have a touch screen, lol

You and me both - only my XP is the Black OPS version and I split the HD in half to put Maverick (Linux) on as well. Now I have my happy fail-safe dual boot system.

I'm still using XP as well, and just recently started occasionally using a laptop,
but I'm not too fond of doing so. Touch screen you say? Heck, I won't even use
a wireless mouse!

Mmmm.... I highly recommend a dual boot system. Couldn't live without one!

Quite right too. For they are the work of the devil.
