I just wanted to take a moment of time to wish my fellow Canadians a safe and turkey filled Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Turkey Day YDD. Mine's on Monday. Better be turkey, I don't want ham again this year dammit. Okay, so it's more the stuffing that I want, but that's besides the point. O yes, it is.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

lilmissdefiant -> RE: Happy Thanksgiving! (10/6/2012 11:56:38 PM)

Being an Aussie we don't celebrate thanks giving, can some explain to me what it is?

kitkat105 -> RE: Happy Thanksgiving! (10/6/2012 11:59:23 PM)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving

Think: spending time with family & friends, being thankful for living in this amazing country, celebrating the harvest and eating as much as Christmas day.

Thanks kitkat105

needles.......now thinking of turkey......nom

Canadian Thanksgiving is, I believe, lower stress than American Thanksgiving. Not to mention several weeks earlier. But, hey, thats okay! We are just that more ready for Christmas Turkey when it gets here. Besides, that late in November, us Canadians are too busy with Grey Cup parties to think about turkey.....its all about the turkey, baby!

tiggerspoohbear -> RE: Happy Thanksgiving! (10/7/2012 3:13:34 PM)

It's all about the dark meat on the turkey, if I can get at it, and hoping that for ONCE my sister will make enough stuffing. My mom's recipe, much beloved, especially by me. I'm not allowed in the kitchen at all before supper is served because I've found a spoon and I'm in the stuffing. Not alone to debone the turkey anymore either. Party poopers!! [;)]

ShaharThorne -> RE: Happy Thanksgiving! (10/7/2012 3:23:21 PM)

I am not allowed around the turkey for American Thanksgiving. I steal the skin all of the time.

yourdarkdesire -> RE: Happy Thanksgiving! (10/7/2012 3:57:47 PM)

The turkey is browning nicely and the veggies are ready to go.

I made it to church today, and our minister made a funny. He said he was willing to share his pumpkin pie. He is a better person than me.

RemoteUser -> RE: Happy Thanksgiving! (10/7/2012 8:38:21 PM)

I came.

I gobble-gobbled.

I left.

That is all.

yourdarkdesire -> RE: Happy Thanksgiving! (10/8/2012 9:26:34 AM)

I ate too much yesterday. I was unable to finish eating my pumpkin pie. [:(]

tiggerspoohbear -> RE: Happy Thanksgiving! (10/8/2012 7:37:35 PM)

We had supper at my sister's tonight. Her boyfriend, my niece, her friend (the b/f's son), my dad and his g/f & me. Sis made creamy carrot soup, smushed potatoes, steamed green beans, bread stuffing, turkey, apple pie and "petes de soeur". Translates to "nuns farts', pastry rolled out, covered in butter, brown sugar. Rolled and cut into slices, looks like a log. Baked until brown sugar bubbles and pastry is done. I had to have them removed from me. DON'T TELL ME IT'S WILLPOWER, there's a reason I don't make them at home or keep them here dammit.

I was good, only had 2 servings of stuffing, didn't overdo it or she gets upset with me. But I did get the skin and it was crispy yummy. No one wanted that. Dad wanted me to sleep over at his place, in the leather easy chair, and leave in the morning, but I figured if I came home I could watch TV in peace, sleep in my own bed and not have to get up tomorrow if I didn't want to. All in all a good day.

Now, I don't think I'll be eating for the next day or two, I'm still stuffed. [8D]

yourdarkdesire -> RE: Happy Thanksgiving! (10/8/2012 8:22:07 PM)

If you are still stuffed, should we be calling you turkeypaws....?

tiggerspoohbear -> RE: Happy Thanksgiving! (10/8/2012 8:55:27 PM)

LMAO, yup I'd say so for the next few days. I'm used to eating one small meal a day, usually later, but I had a French Toast Cinnamon bagel at about 2pm, along of course with a frozen raspberrry lemonade. I think we had supper around 6. The bagel would have done me for the day.

Turkeypaws has a certain ring to it though! [:D]

ShaharThorne -> RE: Happy Thanksgiving! (10/9/2012 4:52:10 AM)

I am glad that y'all had a wonderful holiday. I get the house to myself for the American Thanksgiving. DVD catch up time!
