Status: offline 		When I say "Foreign Men" and "The Great American Slave Fantasy", I am referring very specifically to the men from non-english speaking locales who join predominantly American BDSM communities (such as collarchat.com) looking specifically for the stuff we would commonly describe as "extreme slave fantasies".

I am referring to things like 24/7 pony play, "lock me in a cage and feed me cock three times a day forever", bad FemDom porn, "chain me in your dungeon 24/7 forever"...... you catch the drift.

I am not admitting or denying that these things exist. I am not saying that we don't get that sort of guys from North America or english speaking locales. What I want to know is why look in America and not their own local area?

It is my impression that several of the places these posters hail from are far more hardcore than the generic average American BDSM sensibility as a whole and more accommodating of those "extreme conditions". To an extent, certain things that the North American sensibility may consider exclusively BDSM are just commonplace vanilla customs elsewhere. So where does this idea that America is the place to look if you are seeking these conditions come from? Do Americans go on to foreign online BDSM communities to look for the same?

Non-American folks, what is the generic average BDSM scene sensibilities where you are?

Status: offline 		Im not sure why - but you definitely are correct about foreigners looking to come to the US - Im just taking a stab at this and they think it might lead to them living in a country or circumstances that beat the ones that they got going on there. Such as Turkey.

The only place that I ever considered going to see someone was in England - and then I was like: no way - the weather there sucks ass.

Status: offline 		I was contacted the other day by some woman in the Philippines who offered me a position at a "slave sanctuary" she is setting up. Unfortunately, we disagreed on what a "slave sanctuary" means and I have no love for the Filipino climate.

ETA: accidentally posted before I was finished..... anyway, in conclusion, I'm sure she's not the only one running BDSM complexes and "fantasy farms".

Status: offline 		Hard to say. Anyone can start anything in the Philippines. The big challenge really is whether the local terrorists would let you hold on to it. True fact. A friend of mine just lost his Ashram there to a local paramilitary group. Guys walk in with guns and say "mine now!"? You pick up your things and leave. It happens all the time and never makes the news.

Status: offline 		Perhaps the idea of humiliating, degrading, controlling an American adds spice to their fantasy and desires? Many foreigners perceive Americans as arrogant, privileged and over indulged. The idea of making the Yankee crawl and beg and submit may be the turn on.

Status: offline 		The lure of being here, I guess. For all the global technology, until you've been to another country, you have no idea what it's like there. The US looks pretty glam on TV. It's not like we broadcast poverty, unemployment, lack of health care, racism, crime, etc.

And if you're in say, Turkey, or Egypt, where slavery is really SLAVERY, living in a cage must seem okay.

It's too bad that we can never get straight answers from the people that come on here asking.

I'm not entirely sure what the first has to do with a person being a slave, as for the second, it seems counter-intuitive to me. I suspect more people would take you seriously over in Turkey or Egypt if you asked to be a slave kept in a cage than in america.

We're talking about the guys who are in countries where BDSM isn't a widely accepted thing? That means there really isn't much that they can do with their fantasies. They watch porn, which I'm assuming is mostly English speaking; perhaps translated. They've got the internet, and by some of what they see, North America might just be the place to realize things that they will never be able to otherwise.

They are already in a culture that isn't going to accept their kink related thoughts. In this aspect, another place is a dream. All they have learned is what porn provides, so they think that is what happens. This must be the land of opportunity for kink. We have it everywhere! Compared to what they have in their own backyard, that's not necessarily an exaggeration.

So, they come here, thinking that's what we have. Where else are they really going to go?

Status: offline 		LP, I'm more thinking in the direction of places where BDSM ideas are widely accepted in vanilla life, just not necessarily under a BDSM label. For example where in North America we might consider the boyfriend of the girl who uses him as a chauffeur, errand boy, escort, ATM and etc [ETA: without any sexual gratification for him] to be submissive, in some countries that's just called dating.

Hib, that would make some sense if they are looking for consensual slavery, I suppose, but most of them have been after non-consensual no-limits slavery that they could get in their own backyards... what's with that?
