I'm new to this type of lifestyle and in need of a Dominant who understands that.

Welcome. Lotsa nice folks over here.
Don't worry about being new. People who have been doing this for decades still ask questions of those who have more experience in a particular area.

Welcome! I strongly suggest reading up on predators and red flags before you get into a relationship. Unfortunately, there are many people who will take advantage of newbies. There are also a lot of really great people out there who want to help newbies out, but it's up to you to keep yourself safe and that starts with education. Some of the predators are good at making themselves look helpful when they really have ulterior motives. Do a search of the forums for threads on predators and red flags to see if you can find some conversations about warning signs to watch out for. If you can't find anything relevant, then start a thread--I'm sure a lot of people will chime in. Getting involved in your local community is also a good idea. They can generally help steer you in the right direction if you ask them for advice about behaviors you're encountering or a particular person you're speaking to. The best thing you can do for yourself--GO SLOWLY. Go slowly with each person you speak to, don't let him rush you, and stop to think about everything--does it seem safe, does anything seem off about it, does anything about it make you uncomfortable? Follow your intuition. I don't want to continue prattling on here in the intros section, so if you want more specific advice and some links to get you started, send me a message. Good luck!
