That was great. Thanks you for sharing it. Those who enjoyed it should check out the catalog from Water Lily Acoustics (catalog) Water Lily Acoustics is a one man company (Kavi Alexander) that has been doing cross cultural music of the highest quality for the past several years. Among their offerings are the 1993 Grammy winner, A Meeting By The River, which is a collaboration between the American guitarist Ry Cooder and the famous Hindustani guitarist V M Bhatt. This was followed by Bhatt’s joining dobro player Jerry Douglas and the master of the standup bass Edger Meyer for Bourbon and Rosewater an exploration of the common elements between bluegrass and Hindustani music. Bela Fleck is on everyone’s short list as the finest banjo player extant. He had worked with Douglas and has done a lot of work with Meyer. He said A Meeting By The River was his favorite recording for a long time. So when he was approached to participate with VM Bhatt and the virtuoso of the Erhu, a 2 string Chinese violin, Jie-Bing Chen. He said “I was there”. Out of this 3 day jam session came the 1996 Grammy nominee Tabula Rasa. Fleck said “It was the highlight of my year probably”. Youtube link When I said “highest quality” I meant the Alexander is serious about recording techniques. He could give people on these boards lessons in being obsessive. If you read this interview, his “tech specs” statement, or this review of his orchestral recording work, you will see what I mean. When you combine his approach and the quality of the musicians it is not surprising that his catalog has so many exceptional choices. For the record I have no affiliation with Water Lily Acoustics or Mr. Alexander
