I'm curious what was your opinion of the book as a BDSM kinksterer and or life stylist?

I think My opinion of the book is scattered about the dozen or so other threads that have been on the topic.

Enjoy!

Personally I think it's a generic romance fanfic with a bit of tying up. It bored me, but so do most romances and fanfics. I can't quite build up the rage that others do.

No, and I won't.

Please do a search on the topic.

I would suggest doing a search. There have been threads about this and the opinions are generally not good.

Hot enough erotica as long as you accept it has nothing to do with the BDSM lifestyle

That isn't how you spell "Not enough erotica..."

I read all three.

50 shades, darker, then freed.

I got a little bored on book one and a half. Repetitive really. I dont get it when people say it doesn't have BDSM element or it isn't accurate. Maybe it just is not accurate in their experience.
Its very mentaly based, and that is my experience, as limited as it may be.
Of course it has all the juicy sex stuff, thats what makes a best seller. But its the reading between the lines, which is pretty interesting. Everyone says how poorly it is written, but its not really, it just simple reading and makes for easy side thinking.
I give it a good pleasure reading review, and since its very popular, I would think its an accurate account.
I did read them, and so did a couple of my family for fun, and they had a huge hysterical laugh with just random page reading for comedy.

50 Shades of Grey isn't what the lifestyle is like...
It's like... a mommy porn FANTASY version of what the lifestyle is like..

This. As I have said before - Fifty Shades of Grey is to actual D/s what Pirates of the Carribean is to actual pirates. It is a fantasy inspired by D/s. And if you like it, great! Enjoy! Just don't go using it as a handbook for relationships or as research into how these things really work.

Bad for literature. Bad for kink. Bad for humanity.

If you fancy yourself a writer and you think it was a good read... quit.

I don't think it's horribly written or anything, though. I finally read it after hearing so many people bashing it. It does have some D/s aspects to it. I didn't mind it. I'm halfway through the third book. I don't want to post any spoilers but... the longer you read, the less kinky it gets. I think the writer ran out of ideas after the first book but just wanted to make more money. But yeah, you're right: definately not a handbook. That's like saying Story of O or the Beauty Trilogy is how M/s relationships are. You're DREAMING! lol

I read all three books a couple weeks ago. I was fascinated. It's nothing like the lifestyle that I've experienced, but then again, everyone has had different experiences.

What I think is great about it is that a lot of women that have read it, that were already curious about it (the lifestyle, BDSM, other things in general), well now they're acting on their curiosity rather than just sitting around wondering about it. I imagine this poorly written book has acted as a gateway for many to have talks with their partners about things they have wanted for a while but didn't know how to bring it up.

It also means that maybe, just maybe, there are a great deal more people now that are at least understanding of this lifestyle and aren't so stuck up and judgmental. If there's one less asshole in the world acting like BDSM and anything that entails is bad, well then good, in my opinion!
