Some of the actors were clearly more charismatic than others, though they all had their merits. Fifteen years ago I would have said Tom Baker without hesitation. I started the series when he and Jon Pertwee commanded the role. I think both did wonderful jobs. For sheer range, though, through emotive expression and strong presence/dialogue, I do believe that now I would go with David Tennant. For his brief stint Christopher Eccleston also did a very good job - though he is right that if he stayed on, doing a good job, he would have been brutally typecast. I don't have any one favourite episode, though I do enjoy Doomsday. Call it cliche, but the scene where they sense each other through the wall, unable to touch, is a sharp reminder of when I miss my girl the most, and cannot hold her.
