Issue with CM on Google Chrome - 10/18/2012 11:01:11 AM

Was looking around, this seems to be the best fit for this post, board wise.

So, I typically use Google Chrome as my default browser. When I logged on to CM to check mail today, I found that I was unable to read profiles - the text in the preview box goes blank - as well as being unable to reply to messages. I'm actually posting this from Firefox right now, since I seem to be able to use CM and have it function normally with this browser.

I'm up to date on Java and all other similar programs and I've cleared out my cookies/cache on Chrome, neither of which seems to have affected CM's functionality with Chrome. Any ideas on what the problem is, and how I might be able to fix it, or am I resigned to using Firefox when I want to check my mail?

I've never used Chrome (yet) so I am not able to help much, but I am curious in knowing if you are new to using
Chrome just recently, or have you used it previously with Collarme, and just recently started having issues?
Sometimes it can be a simple add on or plug in that might be affecting the site, or some setting that may have changed,
in which a Restore (if you are using XP) might help.

There are several regular posters here that use Chrome, and I have not seen any recent discussion about issues with it.
Hopefully, someone with more knowledge will come along and help you. Or, if possible, click on the Support Button on the
bottom of the other side (where your profile resides) and advise them of your technical issues.

Chrome has been a bit wonky for me since they started the new ad stuff, which spawns from the CMail page.

That said, it still works here, most of the time; just acts up a bit.

I am using Chrome with no problems and also have not seen the ads other people have been complaining about. I'm using Ad Blocker.

Thanks for the help thus far.

To clarify - I've had absolutely no issues using CM with Chrome up until today. I do use Adblock, but not typically on CM (though I could have something blocked that I'm forgetting). Not entirely sure what the issue is.

Also, it seems that Chrome works just fine for the forums here. It's just any and all text boxes on the main site that seem to be affected. I'll look into contacting the site staff and see what they say.

Sounds more like your ad blocker than Chrome but I could be wrong. I've never used Chrome.

I had a similar issue with Facebook once. Turns out, I had unknowingly started up my adblock and blocked out the entire page. At any rate, you should check in your setting somewhere and see if that is what you have done. My Chrome is showing CM just fine. *shrugs*

Ah that could indeed explain it.

OP, right click on the page, select AdBlock, and see where the slider is set.

I've checked my Adblock, there's nothing being blocked on CM. Even turned it off completely, still getting the issues.

I'm wondering if it's a Javascript issue, but that doesn't make a lot of sense considering I updated Java a couple of weeks ago and this is only an issue now.

For reference, I got screenshots of the areas that are being problematic, since they're the only spots that have any issues.

On the homepage, cannot view profile/journal content:

And, when I go to reply to messages, I can't select the text box to be able to type:

I thought it might be that you didn't register on the other side but I just looked at your profile so it's there.

I found this on a website that says that adblock can cause this because it requires an update and to follow the steps below.

quote:

To do this in Chrome - Go to the Wrench -> Tools -> Extensions -> AdBlock Plus -> Options -> Update Now

Thanks for that, littlewonder. Updating didn't help, but uninstalling Adblock, restarting Chrome and reinstalling Adblock seems to have done the trick.

And also, many thanks to everyone else for their help and suggestions. You're all awesome. :D
