Met someone I'd been talking to in a mall for lunch. He was on his lunch break from work. Turns out he wasn't one of the professionals in the near by offices like he'd said, he was the janitor and he was in his coverall uniform for our date. Then he pointed out how he had to go to a certain Chinese food place in the mall food court since he was picky about his food. Ugh. He pointed out a baby at the next table with a wink- I guess he was saying that could all be ours some day. At that point I reminded him I was 44 and wouldn't be popping out any babies any time soon. Then during lunch he proceeded to tell me how on his last date, the woman went into the bathroom and never came out again, so after an hour and a half he decided to leave. I was soooooo tempted to do the same. He had the personality of a dish rag. It didnt' turn out as badly as it could have. When I parked upon arriving, the parking attendant who was older and of smallish stature, pronounced me beautiful and after flirting wildly with me insisted on walking up to the sidewalk with me. When I returned he was waiting for me, bowed deeply, inquired after my date, upon hearing of it's awfullness. he exclaimed loudly in Spanish, something, don't know what exactly, and walked me down to my car arm in arm. He kissed my hand and deposited me into my car and followed me, waving, up to the exit. It. Made. My. Day. I remember Manuel fondly, my date- can't remember his name.
