It was brought to my attention (by a particularly rude response to my simple and nicely worded question) that I may be using a distinction improperly...

Male-Dom Couple vs. Dom/Domme couple

As I've always understood it from my years of lurking behind the scenes, a Male-Dom Couple is a couple with a dominant male and a vanilla/sub/slave female while a Dom/Domme couple is...well...obvious...
Last night it was put to me that a Male-Dom Couple is 2 dominant men...

Have I been wrong all this time?

If you said 'male dom couple' to me I would assume you meant two males. But it's not something I would get upset about. And there are no rules, that's just what I would take from that.

I've seen 'M/f' used as shorthand for Male dominant female submissive, if that helps.

Well, I'm just confused. The home/search page on the other side doesnt make a distinction so I'm not sure if my search settings have beenset properly...ever now!

I would look to your orientation (straight, bi, gay) for a clue if the secondary in the couple was female. In a gay or bi male lead, it could be a male sub, but if you are straight it would be highly unlikely ;)

In your case, your sub's sexuality (bisexual) is listed, but yours isn't.

My apologies. No offense intended by calling your switch a sub.

It's all good, just difficult to express the big dopey grin that was on my face when I said it.

I noticed, if i go to "edit profile" it has my sexuality set, but it doesnt show up on the actual profile....hmmmmmmm...

It reads Dom/switch now. Niceness, or lack thereof regarding the email you received, that person was right. Generally, a male Dom couple is two males. Considering the rest of the text, and I love the way you express no males, it was probably somewhat confusing.

For what it's worth, I enjoyed reading it.

I'm used to seeing "male dom couple" used to mean a male dominant and a female submissive, unless otherwise noted. If it's two dominant men, I don't see why that would not be listed as dom/dom (considering a dominant man and a dominant woman couple are listed as a dom/domme, it seems to follow logically). As with most terms in this lifestyle, you generally have to spell everything out. I can't think of any BDSM-specific words that have a universally accepted standard meaning, so don't fret about it too much. Just try to explain what the lifestyle-specific terms you use mean to you somewhere in your profile to avoid confusion in the future (and ignore the one-twue-wayers who will invariably come along and tell you you're wrong).

I agree with you and think you have it right. When I've seen it in context it has always been M/f.

I have always thought it was meant to portray male Dom as apposed to Fem Dom.

If you're looking for a couple,

Male Dom Couple = 2 Males, both Dominant
Femdom Couple = 2 Females, both Dominant
Dom/Dom Couple = 2 Dominants, I think that means one of each gender
Sub/Sub Couple = obvious, 2 submissives of any gender combination
M/f = male Dom & female sub
F/m = female Domme & male sub

At least I think that's how it goes.

It means you are living in an ice castle that melts every year with every lost sock, misplaced set of keys, and forgotten birthday gift revealed with the thaw. And there are mermaids in the moat. Definitely mermaids.

It means (to me) a male dominant led couple and the other person is female and not dominant. I have never seen it to mean otherwise.

I am not up on all the lingo, but to me I would assume two males.
