LOL

I was raised a good catholic girl.

You see how well that turned out.

IN the 1954 book, 'The Female Orgasm', by Alfred Kinsey (et al), lapsed catholic girls were the most fun, since they did the most tricks,  followed distantly second by lapsed jewish girls.   So, religion has done some good for mankind.

Those were the days, my friend. We thought they'd never end.
Actually, it only got better [:)]

Now, if these Uraguayan girls are coming into the 1954s it will be bigger than Cuba.  I might just have to get me some of that there veegra.  How do you say, give me rossignal or give me head in the Uraguayan dialect of spanish?

Granted the Jamaican woman Macaulay is different but the other six? Does she expect pictures of them attending Mass?

Things like this are as known as the backgrounds of United States Supreme court judges are in the United States.

Composición Actual - http://www.corteidh.or.cr/composicion.cfm

Attended Catholic schools and universities, specialized in Canon law, belonged to Catholic political societies and organizations, one doesn't even need to read Spanish to see much of it. Not including coming from countries where the people are 80% or more Catholic.

I support the law by Uruguay, but point out the possible troubles, and this ensues.

LOL

Its like a Judge who happens to be Catholic as opposed to a Catholic Judge.

Huge difference.

Well, if the alternative is no access to medically safe abortions at all, in any circumstances, then I would have to consider this a massive step forward.

I also think it is important that the country is saying that just because the Catholic church is against abortion that the laws of the country can be different. Again, an important first step.

Now if we can just keep our rights in the U.S. from being slowly whittled away. I feel like soon we will have the same law as in Uruguay, except for us, instead of being a step forward, it will be a step back.....

Yes I agree. Any initiative that brings abortion to women deprived of that option in Catholic countries is a step forward.

The Uruguayan stance is a little short of ideal, but only idealists hope to obtain 100% of their agenda first time round. It rarely happens in the real world on any issue, let alone one as contentious as abortion. Given the entrenched opposition any relaxation of abortion laws faces in Catholic countries, this strikes me as a huge step forwards in the status of women in Uruguay. So I welcome it.

It is the ripple effect across the region that will be interesting.

A proposed treaty concerning reproductive and women's health rights is circulating, for instance and the Catholic church is not pleased about it either, as they can argue their case about abortion with greater effect then they can concerning contraception.
