Well, you see, Janah, when an economy is expanding, when people are working, and building better lives for themselves and their families, there is more money movng around for the government to take taxes on. Of course, your baseline is from the school of lies, damn lies, and statistics, and pictures the Truth Team spew just bore the shit out of me. Romney did not speak mellifluously tonight. He got his tang a little toungled a time or two. It happens. Do you recall, for instance, the President talking about all 57 states? Big stuff was on the table tonight. Important issues were there to be discussed, like him or loathe him, Mitt Romney looked like a man with a positive vision for the future, while the President kept trying to drag it into the weeds, rather than display his own lack of vision, or comprehension.

What blows me away is how people can latch on to this talking point, yet give Obama a complete pass on his plan to take the money saved from ending the war in Afghanistan and apply half of it to nation build here, and the other half to pay down the debt. Unless the President is claiming that Afghanistan is costing us $2T+/year, there isn't any way for half the savings to actually pay down the debt, considering how we're running $1T+ yearly deficits.

[:)] I felt Romney's comportment was very reserved and he let a lot of the jabs made by President Obama go unchallenged. In a way, I think this made him appear much more ready to discuss ideas, but I can see how it might be construed as a weakness. I can understand how Obama's supporters might be elated at the President's aggressive stance in light of his performance in the first debate... but it did come off somewhat petty, in my opinion. In general, I think Romney did very well. President Obama was no slouch, either. As a whole, I don't think debate was much of a coup for either gentleman. We're still looking at a close race and an interesting election day next month.

CBS poll shows undecideds favored Obama over Romney by 30 points on foreign policy. Romney is trying to win the election now by mirroring public opinion on the issues, hence his departure from (1) leaving troops in IRAQ; (2) not having a firm deadline to exit Afghanistan; (3) not negotiating with IRAN. If you know of other pivots and policy reversals, please add them to the list. As Obama stated, Romney is "all over the map." Hes a Republican - he will increase Military - and as in the past, the tax payers will pay for it. No one has to read that link to know thats the way its always worked. But in Romneys mind - the middle class makes 250 K - so of course we'll have that kind of money to pay for the increase in military. Everyone I know makes 250 K a year. So I guess it shouldnt be a problem. And as far as pulling out of Afghanistan - I'll believe it when I see it.

Well that's just lovely, Owner59. My opinion places me in a minority. Gee. Not the first time, won't be the last, but at least my opinion are based on watching and deciding for myself, rather than reading tweets and emails about it. Anything from the Truth Team on President Obama caught flat lying and denying the reason there is no SOFA with Iraq was because he couldn't get the job done?

I don't presume to know what Romney has in his mind, but he has said that anyone making over $250,000 per year is wealthy, and that middle-income Americans make up to $250,000 per year. President Obama appears to concur by repeatedly insisting that the "Bush" tax cuts should not end for the middle-class... those making up to $250,000 per year.
