I want to frost 13 cupcakes brown and write happy birthday on them for my dad. Well his favored icing is chocolate, Would white look good on brown?

Trust me it would look fine, I used to make a white cake with chocolate icing all the time and people loved it. Go for it!!!

Yes most decorating classes recommend a lighter color

haha Breaking I'm not really sure, but in this case the frosting, is the ground cover so to speak for the cupcakes and icing is what you write in
