Am i the only one that has noticed that some of the ads on the other side are so explicit, it seems like they would break TOS. It's like watching bdsm porn.

I personally broke that chic's hymen.

I felt it was my job.

Fast Reply-actually the sound has been back on with the pop under for quite a while. It was off for a short while afterwards. The sound IS with that ad. Support has already forwarded it to the technical team, and they are aware of it. I know its an inconvenience, and sympathize, but in the meantime, if possible, you might want to mute the site till after you enter it, if it is around the time that the ad will come on, then re-enable sound after you close the window. I know is not the most convenient solution, but the ad is only supposed to be sent to you once every 24 hour period. Again, my apologies, but it appears that other good advice has been given previously in this thread. :)

And When someone gets in trouble with the law for the corruption of a minor, for trying to check their email on a bdsm PERSONALS site, Not a PORN site?

I get multiple ads a day and they have sound, I have several ad blockers and a popup blocker enabled...and it isnt just when you log in.. Youve been told this now over 10 times 3 times by me personally. So why after over a week has nothing been taken care of?

I still get the ad...

Why should I to visit YOUR site and in that visit make YOU money and have to.... to simply use the site turn off my sound? Switch my browser? and god knows what else to avoid inappropriate ads that violate the very terms of service the site requires its users to adhear to

Why the fuck cant your advertisers follow the rules you put in place for EVERYONE else.

Its simple, Your Ads are LOSING you money. This kinda shit... keeps people from coming to the site.. Why? We all dont like porn...and even if we like porn.. We dont like it popping up when we open up the site on our phone or computer... and realize... wonderfully that a porn clip is playing with small minors present.

MalcolmNathaniel -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/27/2012 11:10:46 PM)

If you are the the only one getting that it could be on your end.

I suggest running a malware scan.

Or 3:

MalwareBytes
Adaware
SpybotSearchAndDestroy.

All 3 are free. Chances are you aren't going to want to touch your keyboard for weeks cause of all the viruses.

Remember: I am not a computer professional in real life, but I play one on TV.

Strike that last sentence. Reverse it.

I apologize, I do not read every thread this is the first one I have seen. Therefore, I had no idea you had posted anything. You have not written support, therefore you assume you have told me something personally that you did not. I truly sympathize, whether you are spending money somewhere here or not on your visit(granted Im making an assumption because of the statement that every time you visit you make the SITE , not me, money) .What I suggested about the sound was to try to at least be a little helpful. Collarme.com has been a completely free site for over 10 years and is the world's largest free BDSM dating site. In order to continue the site's free status and developing new features, we have had to increase our advertising in order to defray costs. The goal was to keep it free for you the members, and the site hopes that users will understand. The moderators, ancillary staff and myself all volunteer our time, with the same ideal, to help defray site costs for the users benefit, by helping keep the site free so everyone can have access, not just people that are willing or capable of paying a fee. One of the more realistic alternatives if we could not find revenue to defray costs would be to charge YOU money. I have forwarded everyone's comments, that is all I am able to do, and I do know the site is listening to all of them.
ETA: There are over a million and a half users, so while the site is listening to everyone, I can personally say by far not all the users are against this change, nor does it cause them inconvenience, whether it's because they are utlizing the advertisers, or do not mind clicking the window shut, or have an ad blocker installed that takes care of it. I personally have the ad come up more than once, but with the work I do for the site, I have different nicks. I get one per nick, so total I get more than one,. but one per user. I asked another user to give me a log of a couple of days of sign ons,. with notes as to specifically had the ads appear. If you would like to do the same, I will make sure the log gets forwarded so they can review, because each USER is only supposed to have it every 24 hours. I will be happy to forward it if you will send to my cmail.

Who owns the site? I hardly believe that a site that's been functioning fine for YEARS all of a sudden needs inappropriate advertisements with sound on them to stay afloat.
You're saying that NONE of the money that is made from those advertisements goes into someone's grubby little hands, and pockets, and ALL of it is "non-profit"?

My Bullshit meter is going off.

Ya know what? When someone's child gets on their parents computer, and one of those advertisements come up, I'm going to take GREAT pleasure in seeing the lawsuit that ensues from it.

VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/28/2012 12:01:24 AM)

I did want to clarify before it became possibly misunderstood that I was in no way inferring that you had more than one nick, I had just made a comment about mine. It is very late here, and I probably could have waiting till tomorrow to post after resting the brain cells so that wording might have been a bit better :)

littlewonder -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/28/2012 12:55:51 AM)

Weird. I have only had the ad popup twice before I added it to my no popup list, specifically. Now I have not seen a single popup since and no noises.

You might want to check out your settings. You can add specific sites to your blocker if the ads get past your general blocker.

Exactly who's responsiblity is it to keep your kids from getting on your computer and viewing things they shouldn't?The ONLY time that pop up comes up is when/while you are logged on cm...not some kids site.Trying to sue this site for this ranks right up there with a parent trying to sue GM because a car GM made started and had an accident because the parents were stupid enough to leave the keys in the ignition. If you aren't so pleased with what goes on here on CM,maybe you better run over to the Faker site you are a mod on and post another rant.

JstAnotherSub -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/28/2012 6:16:28 PM)

I have not gotten the ads for a long time. If they bothered me as much as they bother some folks on this thread, I would just fucking leave though.

1) Its making the site money, therefore the owners, who put money into the site to keep it running.

2) you are the only one who mentioned non-profit.

Sorta like suing Hustler because you didnt hide the magazine well enough. Any parent who allows their child on a pc with these types of sites and doesnt know, or care enough, to place parental controls needs to deal with all the embarrassment they get from their child trying to log onto such a site.. and the embarrassment of trying to sue such a site as a result.

Funny how you excuse the parents from any responsibility at all.

poise -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/29/2012 11:24:10 AM)

I can imagine how annoying it must be having that ad pop out at random times, but the site is not in violation.
The Terms of Service we all agreed to when we became members here clearly shows that we may be subject to such images.

6.3. You acknowledge and understand that some of the Materials contain graphic visual depictions of sexual
activity and nudity, graphic audio portions of the same kind of content, and descriptions of sexually oriented and sexually explicit activities. You acknowledge that You are aware of the nature of the Materials provided by Our Website and that You are not offended by such Materials, and to the contrary, that You are accessing this Website specifically because You enjoy such expressive content and You wish to view such Materials. You stipulate that you access this Website freely, voluntarily, and willingly, and for Your own personal enjoyment.

It also addresses the possibility of minors having access to the site, and who would be held responsible for such.

5.1.3. 5.1.3. You represent and warrant that You will not allow any minor access to this Website. Users should implement parental control protections, such as computer hardware, software, or filtering services, which may help users to limit minors' access to harmful material. You acknowledge that if Your computer can be accessed by a minor, that You will take all precautions to keep Our Materials from being viewed by minors. You additionally acknowledge that if You are a parent, it is Your responsibility, and not Ours, to keep Our erotic content from being displayed to Your children or wards.

I know this doesn't lessen the frustrations anyone has over being exposed to such ads, but perhaps it will lessen the anger .

Thank you VAA. This membership appreciates whatever steps can be taken. Oddly enough, the add did not "pop up" today when signing in. Maybe tech already wrestled it into a corner and tied it to a chair!!! Thanks again for the effort and the advice in the interim. And for listening to my personal bitchfest. ;)
ETA: spoke too soon! Just got blasted with an audio orgasm! Been logged on for hours and then out of the blue...must have slipped the techies knots!!!

Actually, the more likely thing is that they don't realize that they can complain and will be heard, so they just don't say anything.

littlewonder -> RE: Explicit Ads (10/29/2012 8:52:18 PM)

I don't understand that if people don't like it why they just don't block it with their pop-up blocker. I mean it takes seconds to do so. I mean, come on.
