"There's some very, very strong neo-conservative views that are presented by the governor that I have some trouble with," Powell said on CBS."

"I'm not quite sure which Governor Romney we'd be getting with respect to foreign policy," Powell said, calling Romney's foreign policy "a moving target."

"I think we ought to keep on the track that we are on," the Republican, who also backed Obama in 2008, told "CBS This Morning," adding, "I voted for him in 2008 and I plan to stick with him in 2012."

It should mean something to "independents" and swing voters, but not to subrob, popeye, Heretic, fatdomdaddy, Kentucky 1-2, Sanity, and the others.

servantforuse -> RE: Colin Powell (10/25/2012 10:30:15 AM)

This means absolutely nothing.

LaTigresse -> RE: Colin Powell (10/25/2012 10:38:47 AM)

It means something to many military personel that admire Colin Powell.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Colin Powell (10/25/2012 10:40:36 AM)

I wish Powell had run for Prez.

servantforuse -> RE: Colin Powell (10/25/2012 10:40:49 AM)

No it doesn't. He has been out of the loop for 8 to 10 years now.

LaTigresse -> RE: Colin Powell (10/25/2012 10:41:13 AM)

Generic Dude and I, hoped for the same.

Lucylastic -> RE: Colin Powell (10/25/2012 10:41:44 AM)

I just did a search of the last time Powell endorsed Obama and the responses
it was quite a scream(literally) I have tears!
I shall not name names, but ... you missed an important one, well as far as the thread today is concerned:)

mnottertail -> RE: Colin Powell (10/25/2012 10:53:09 AM)

Powell is a very moderate if not left leaning republican, hes been thrown under the bus since the W administration was told by him that they lied.

DomYngBlk -> RE: Colin Powell (10/25/2012 10:56:31 AM)

Yeah lucy, where did that dude go? Did he finally get committed?

LaTigresse -> RE: Colin Powell (10/25/2012 11:09:52 AM)

Or he had a stroke/heart attack and fell over at his computer.

Well, I am impressed of course, especially considering Secretary Powell has been critical of the President about some domestic policies. So we can trust the honesty of what and why he says that.
And he's  a man I, as a liberal, have IMMENSE RESPECT for. He's always spoken his mind, and no conservative I know of has been more personally involved in the betterment of society.
Of course the embittered money grubbing voter will be unmoved by this. And perhaps not all of the actual 1.x (our calcs change by the minute). It will make some kind of difference I think, but it's next to impossible to calculate in terms of degree.
I just think it's a real significant window into what thoughtful conservatives think of Romney, and the neocon sales pitch in general.

and we know that this comes from an expert on "out of the loop".
Your expert testimony on things like this is much appreciated.

To cons....

If it had been a Mitt-dorsement....it would be huge news.Even with the Libyan-killers caught-news, hitting today.

Of course though....it will have a positive affect with normal folks and will get the President more votes.

Certainly NOT going to get Mittens more votes.

Isn't he the lying piece of shit who took the bush&co. lie to congress and the u.n?

mnottertail -> RE: Colin Powell (10/25/2012 12:39:08 PM)

Yes.........and I do have that issue with him, but he claims he was lied to, and he has went public with it and maintained it, and thats why he resigned and I sort of believe him.

So he gets a half-pass on me from that.   He should have known he was dealing with rabid rightwingers, and so to claim being lied to and not understanding he was lied to is in and of itself prima facie disingenuous, huntie.

So, I am giving him extenuating circumstances and promoting him from lying piece of shit to blind turd in the deal.

Me too. I think he is too smart to do it. I also seem to recall his wife not thinking it was a very good idea.
