Thankfully things are well in Hawai`i. The tsunami warning was removed in the wee hours here. From what I've found on the local news sites, there wasn't any damage, so it was less than the expected tsunami from the earthquake in Japan last year, where there was some damage in Kona on the Big Island from small tsunami waves and the Kahului Harbour in Maui. I did hear on the news that had a tsunami taken place, we had a few hours warning, but we could be in a much different situation, should there be a major earthquake in the islands, which is very possible with the Big Island. I used to live there and experienced small tremors now and again. There was a fairly sizable quake just off the west coast of the Big Island a few years ago that affected not just the Big Island, but both Maui and O`ahu too...which are islands further west in the island chain. The guy on the news said if an earthquake hits the Big Island, we would have maybe 20 minutes to prepare. Just to give you an idea, here is a picture of the largest electrical plant on O`ahu and how close it is to the ocean. I do hope the best case scenario happens, given that it's evident a severe store, at a minimum, is expected. I am sending positive thoughts to those in the east.
