Top & Bottom...whatever for, why not just use dom and sub, this pigeon-holing is ridiculous in my opinion, and there really is no need for more categories. If you are not interested in D/S, then just say so in the profile text...really pretty simple.

You would think it would be simple.  And as far as writing that into the profile goes, it IS a simple matter, and one which I've done, and then reiterated in my journal several times.  Alas, since submissive is the "closest" descriptive available, that is what I had no real choice but to use as a classification.  Call it the least inaccurate of the available inaccuracies.  And since it seems that most go strictly by that initial descriptive listed at the top of the profile to determine whether they're going to inundate folks with drek email - rather than actually READING the profile content - that would stem at least some of the flood.  In my own opinion, expecting everyone to be classified as dom/sub/slave/switch is where the pidgeon holing occures - and adding various other possible selections would help to ease that.  This isn't Complicating things - it is simplifying them by giving an immediate indication that a person is SM oriented rather than wanting/looking for a partner with compatible control issues.

Arpig -> RE: Suggestions for improvements on Collarme -- what are yours? (6/15/2006 6:35:40 AM)

another bad idea

Arpig -> RE: Suggestions for improvements on Collarme -- what are yours? (6/15/2006 6:36:59 AM)

Yes Bella, I was aware of that, I just found her suggestion a good one, to save a bit of time opening the profile, etc.

Arpig -> RE: Suggestions for improvements on Collarme -- what are yours? (6/15/2006 6:44:23 AM)

in another thread (Fast Reply?), Bearlee made a very worthwhile suggestion

quote:

Seems a shame that when one DOES use 'Fast Reply'...THOSE words don't print at the bottom of the post...instead of 'in reply' to the name of the person in the previous post.

Perhaps that should be a suggestion to the 'Improving CollarMe' thread?  [:)]

I think this would be a very good thing, since the Reply and Fast Reply buttons otherwise seem to do the exact same thing

SweetSlaveGirl -> RE: Suggestions for improvements on Collarme -- what are yours? (6/15/2006 6:57:29 AM)

The good score, bad score, is a bad idea. Why? Because I've been to a chat place where there was a good and bad score. All you had to do is say one wrong thing, or tell them "I'm sorry, you're not my type" and they would get pissy and put you on the "black" list.

It's amazing how many people here, especially Dominants, can't stand or understand the word "NO" or better yet "No Thanks"  It never ceases to amuse me how many Dominants, especially the males, sulk when you tell them "I'm not interested" or "I don't want to meet in real  life just yet, we've just started chatting"

I don't know how many Doms have insisted that we meet in real life when we just met online. It's very unnerving to me, especially since I'm a single parent. I've a child to protect.

I think I'd like being able to weed out a lot of the BS, but it is true..that no matter how many buttons they might give you, there is always someone who figures out a way around them.

Hmmm ... here's a thought ...
eBay scores sellers & buyers according to # of satisfactory (or bad) transactions.  Everyone can look up a seller's or buyer's score to see if that person plays nice with others.

We can't list the names of the abusive people on Collarme ... BUT ... we COULD give a person a good score or a bad score ... on a scale of 10?  or 5? or 100?  No doubt everyone would get the occasional bad score ... there's always somebody who has something to bitch about.  But the folks who have a bad score of 1000 sure would become less popular ... and it would become a warning sign for newbies.

I avoid eBay like the plague ... but am sure there's some sort of similar scale that would work.  I'll leave the exact scoring points to someone who it would make a difference to, to come up with.

I guess the Admin folk could add a Shopping Cart to the search function

DoraExplorer -> RE: Suggestions for improvements on Collarme -- what are yours? (6/15/2006 7:39:38 AM)

It'd be nice if there was some way of managing the email box - for example, creating folders that you can store all the mail from person A in, one for person B etc. that you want to keep, or a folder for "world of 'no'" people... I know I get emailed sometimes and I think "I've heard from you before", but have to trawl back through pages to find the original emails.  Something along the lines of Outlook or Hotmail *ack* I suppose...

BT, Arpig, you already have that feature. Simply click the person's nic and it pops up their profile. You can email from there. Heck, I'm no web guru and I found that out just by mousing over and experimenting.

No offense folks, but for whatever you hold holy, instead of ranting, experiment. Laziness is sad. {hops off her own soapbox}

Bella

When I click someone's nic, it does, indeed pop up their profile and it pops up a box for me to take notes about them, not email them. If they have a picture and I click that, I can email, but I did say that I'd like the feature for those who don't have pictures. This is what I get when I click a nic without a pic.

Personal notes about this user (visible only to you: does not send a message):

Are you 'sure' you have that feature? Or do you have to type their name in on the other side to get to the spot to email them? It's not a problem doing that, but half the time I can't remember how to spell the name and have to go back and forth for the spelling. I'm not lazy, but I may ignorant on the ways of Collarme's technology. If I am, I'm sure I'll stand corrected.

I liked your message, and specifically "If someone at the top of the food chain is listening". That's exactly how it feels to me too.

Cheers.

Hi SweetSlaveGirl. Whilst some Dominants can be pretty suceptible to rejection, easily offended and just plain STUPID, I have had the luck of encountering a plethora of well-read, curious and intelligent Dom/mes who didn't react negatively to my 'Thank you, but no, thank you' responses :-) .

To me, one of the jinx of most BDSM sites are the close-minded female submissives whose modus operandi is to bitch at any other woman they deem as 'competition' (they have that kind of horrible American high school female frame of mind of clique, social exclusion and hypocrisy).

Don't let the bastards get you down!

KatyLied -> RE: Suggestions for improvements on Collarme -- what are yours? (6/15/2006 10:11:30 AM)

I would like people I have "blocked" on the forum to be completely invisible to me.

I agree with the orientation issue, I would like to see a bi-curious and/or bi-willing option.  It's good for those who do not identify as bisexual, yet have some of that leaning within them.

I'd Like CM to have increased Server Bandwidth...

Thank you kittinsol, I will not. [:)]
I've been lucky to find a few decient Dom's  on here that aren't just in it for immediate gratification.  There are a few nice ones out there.

Arpig -> RE: Suggestions for improvements on Collarme -- what are yours? (6/15/2006 2:58:07 PM)

Not for the first time! ::laughs:: I however, am blaming it on menopause and blindness which is going to cover my ass for at least the next 5 years. [8D]

oooooooooooooohhh, why you wanna be hating on Bita?  What up with THAT, G?

I agree DoraExplorer.  Wish there were some email controls that could be used to save emails (to capacity or to folders).  That would be a nice feature.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Suggestions for improvements on Collarme -- what are yours? (6/15/2006 4:07:46 PM)

I think Collarme should offer its own Powerball.  You know, it's not enough to have a totally free personals site.  They should also give away $100 million jackpots every month or so.

And personal assistants.  God damn, Collarme would be much nicer if I had a personal assistant.

NastyDaddy -> RE: Suggestions for improvements on Collarme -- what are yours? (6/15/2006 7:07:12 PM)

They should just fix it so clicking a very few buttons will moments thereafter result in a knock on your door.

GddssBella -> RE: Suggestions for improvements on Collarme -- what are yours? (6/15/2006 7:31:48 PM)

G'evening all:

BT, even if the poster doesn't have a pic, they still have a nic to click on and it will take you to their profile. Did you bother to scroll down the entire page? Hmmm? The email function is there. You need not click on a pic.

*hands BT a cookie* I guess it was a long day? Btw, menopause and blindness can only be used until the next doctor visit. It says so right in the official middle aged chicks handbook! Although, tell my creaky knees that after today, Oy....

You know ADD, if there was a scoring system, just where do you think you'd rate? LoL. You're swinging for the bleachers in the wrong ball park dude.

Stay safe, play nice, & share your toys w/ others...
