Alright I woke up this morning, and as is my usual I was reading the Times
They ran an Op-Ed piece http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/30/opinion/a-big-storm-requires-big-government.html?ref=todayspaper
I thought than, and still do now(despite another thread already running) that this deserves to be seen, read and talked about.
If I had any influence in the Obama campaign I would be putting together a commercial right now shining a big light on just what Mitt had to say about the role of the federal government in disaster relief.....essentially he feels there is none. Now this isn't all that shocking in Republican circles, the role FEMA played during Katrina was no accident, and it wasn't racial in it's failure either....it was just Republicans being Republicans.
FEMA had been set up to fail when Bush decided he could use it as a chit for repaying work done during his election.Bush decided disaster relief was just another cronyism job to be handed out as a right and true spoils of political victory.Romney would go even further, were he to get his way...and his election victory. He feels all of this could be done by state governments.
Well let's ask Governor Christy that today !

Christy .a Romney surrogate and attack dog, found himself in the awkward position of having to sing the Presidents praises earlier today...Republican politicians keep running into this same hypocrisy, they ,when on the election circuit decry Federal money and assistance but it would seem they have no trouble asking for,and accepting that same largess when the public light is not quite so bright.
As the northeast corridor deals with Sandy's aftermath the voters should contemplate just how different that same aftermath might look were Romney to be elected....imagine going thru your local yellow pages trying to find the best deal from the private sector in getting your power restored are your roadways cleared....than and only than should these folks rush out and vote(assuming public gov.work forces have restored power to their area)
