...of a good (reliable) web site where I can see what names will appear on MY ballot (eg by zip code or whatever)?

I have a serious problem about what to do with my vote for congress. Both the Democrat and the Republican candidates absolutely disgust me! I cannot bring myself to vote for either one of them. I'd like to know if there are any third party "fringe" candidates with no chance of winning (unless, of course, everyone is as disgusted with them as I am) so I can lodge a protest vote. There are some state races where I have the same problem.

Thanks.

Thanks Guys.

It looks like I might be out of luck on that Congressional race... I can only find the two big parties listed. I suppose I could always write myself in.

If worse comes to worst I just won't bother to vote in that race. There is no way in hell I am voting for either Collins or Hochul. The shit flinging has gone off the scale (not to mention the money, it seemes like every other commercial is an attack ad by one or the other). The ads that both have been running are insulting to my intelligence (HERE'S just one example). Its like watching a commercial for a kid's cereal or something. I am really, truly offended that they think I can be so easily manipulated... that they can talk down to me like that.

I tried looking at your profile, and either I am blocked or you have it hidden. I could have offered you a precise accounting.
But good luck with that write-in campaign. I'm sure you know that if you campaign a little in your congressional district the results are a little better. I'd be hitting thyose doorbells if I were you.

I've not blocked you nor have I hidden my profile and you are listed as having viewed me... so I'm not sure what the problem is. When I clicked on my own profile, it was a little slow to load so maybe there is a problem on the CM side of things. I dunno... I'm no techie.

That Congressional race was bound to get nasty. On paper is should be a pretty easy GOP pickup and with so many races going the other way the national leadership probably feels it is the best place to spend money.

Too bad the Conservative Party or the WFP aren't contesting the seat.

Its your responsibility and duty as a US Citizen to vote in each and every election. There are no 'ifs, ands, or buts' about it. Since those that dont vote, I do not have to take seriously in political discussions. I can understand if getting to and from the polling location is a hardship due to specific circumstances (physically not ability, hellish boss, etc). But deciding not to vote, cus you dislike the options, is not a valid arguement in my opinion. Write ins are allowed in most states. And if your not sure who to write in (besides yourself, your dog/cat, spouce, etc); just pick your favorite movie and add the character's names. Cus, Darth Vader would make a good US House of Representative. Not to mention Yoda for US Senate.

While I agree with that in principal as a "moral" sense, I know of no law that requires a person to vote. Choosing not to vote is as much a statement as choosing to vote.

That's your choice if you so desire but I call bullshit on anyone who trots out the old cliche about not complaining if you don't vote. Choosing not to vote does not abrogate one's right to free speech.

If I can do a write in I will but if I can't, then I'm skipping that particular election. I did not say that I wouldn't vote in the other elections. As for Darth Vader as a Congressman (Congresscyborg?)... well, he's tried to kill his kids which probably means he is not pro choice. I am also not in agreement with his "crush, kill and oppress everyone" policy (plus, can you imagine the tax increases needed to build the Death Star?). No, I don't think I'd vote for him. Yoda, on the other hand, would have gone to Afghanistan on September 12, 2001 and personally kicked Bin Laden's ass... so, yeah, I could vote for him.
