The thing is, it's not so weird for Democrats to team up with political opponents. It's the converse that's the problem, because right wing rhetoric tends to be divisive and bridge-burning. For example, the major Republican politicians and pundits, everyone on Fox news, plus wackos like Ted Nugent, whom most of them seem to endorse. Why are they so mad? Politics and cynicism aside? Grow up! Christie is up for re-election 1 year from now. He sure as heck doesn't want his opponent running ads that say that while New Jersey was still suffering the massive devastation of Hurricane Sandy, he was out stumping for Romney and playing national politics rather than worrying about business at home.
