I dont know-- I dont see what would cause a "tizzy" with that.  But then, I can be obtuse sometimes.

In many ways it seems to be the ultimate encouragement of "My kink is cooler than your kink."  That's a very dangerous road to walk on.

Again, it's different from a friendly/silly game to show off one's talent.  The nature of edge play in itself would seem to rebuff attempts at external judgement and measurement in terms of relative comparison.

I think it's a bit too subjective and "I'm better than you" in terms of -what- is being done, not how it's being done.

But then, I really dislike competition.

I'd suggest tying someone up and making them watch Teletubbies.  Now that's an extreme scene!

ROTFLMAO - priceless!

This has my LJ circle in a tizzy of discussion and debate.
What do you guys think of this idea?

Extreme Scene Competition

I don’t have a problem with it.
If friends want to get together and do fun things with each other, why not?
Bobbing for apples, pin the tail on the donkey, 3 legged racing, spank the subbie, bloodlet your partner, whatever.
I see it really as nothing more than a bunch of adults getting together and playing their party games.
I guess I don’t understand what the tizzy of discussion and debate is all about. If someone doesn’t want to do it, I’m sure they aren’t being forced to join in, or even attend the event. If they don’t like it, stay home, and let others enjoy their play time.

IMO, IMHO, YMMV, AFAIK, to me, I see it as, from my perspective, it's been my experience, I only speak for myself, (and all other disclaimers here).

I just echo pa's thoughts - but would add it doesn't really add any positive vibes for BDSM in general IMO.

I'm thinkin it's entertainment for the judges.  If it was pre planned theater, with an audience, it would be like any other show.

The cynic in me sees it this exact way. The "judges" wanted to watch some good stuff.

Other than ego-stroking, I don't see the point of such a competition.
"Irresponsible" is the word that comes to mind <shrugs>. The potential for permanent damage, intentional or otherwise, is an uncomfortable "red flag".

Isn't that the great thing about being a child... no responsibilities just play play play.  Of course, Those big people keep bring rules and consequences as one grows up.  Teaching them to be Responsible.  In the end thou.... some just don't grow up!
