I have been reading some of the posts on the thread that our kinky conservative started, and I looked but did not see, the other side of the coin.

I am more worried about how Republicans/conservatives will re-act if President Obama is re-elected, than the other scenario.

My first thought is, they would be challenging the legitimacy of the votes for about a year.
The Republicans will claim the election was stolen!
I would not be surprised if they DEMAND another election!

I can't be the only great American citizen concerned about the "fall-out" if President Obama is re-elected in 2 days!

Nothing any different than they would do if they won the presidency.

The mental health crisis centers will be over-loaded.

I will be frightened to leave my house.

Oh that's easy. If the President is reelected then we go into 4 years of total obstruction, blame, trumped up hearings, and attempts to impeach by the Republicans.

LOL, Mari, and thanks for starting the counterpoint thread.

First off, and I hate to say this, I hope the Secret Service has gotten the institutional problems well sorted out, because some madman somewhere might see it as his sign from God (if you check Kirata's link on the other thread, you'll find some dumbass saying they'll shoot Romney if he wins, so nobody has a high horse for such insanity). I want President Obama to go home, scoop the dog poo off the Rezco Lawn, and permanently secure a slot in the 1% for generations of his family, with his books and speaking fees.

That sort of nightmare craziness aside, the wall of opposition in Congress President Obama has been stumblefied by through his first term is only going to get fortified. He will have no mandate. He may not even have the popular vote. The very same electorate that might choose to give him another chance will have sent the House of Representatives he must work with.

Short answer, he would find his second term a lot less fun and productive than the first.

That is one thought.  My thought is that in his second term there is gonna be a come to jesus, and not finding any interest down in the legislature in being saved, you are going to see alot of executive orders flowing.

If President Obama is re-elected, Americans will be a lot better off. Pre-existing conditions will remain illegal for children and become illegal for adults in 2014. Lifetime limits will remain illegal. Hopefully, President Obama will have the opportunity to appoint at least 2 Supreme Court justices that won't be right wing radicals. Even if there are riots, keeping pre-existing conditions and lifetime limits illegal and keeping right ring extremists out of the Supreme Court will be well worth it. Supreme Court Justices affect this country far longer than a presidential term because they stay until they decide to retire.

tazzy, I was somewhat joking about the riots, but don't underestimate how hard it would be for them to accept defeat.
